Urticaria or urticaria is a common dermatological disease that manifests itself skin rashes, burning, itching and other unpleasant symptoms. For fast and effective disposal from the signs of the disease to the patient along with taking medicines a special hypoallergenic diet is prescribed.

According to medical statistics, in the vast majority of cases, urticaria is of an allergic nature. Not only certain foods can provoke the appearance of blisters on the skin, but also household dust, plant pollen, animal hair, medicines and other irritants.

The main cause of the symptoms of urticaria is histamine contained in the so-called mast cells. When an allergen enters the body, increased emission histamine into the blood. This leads to an increase in the permeability of cell membranes, expansion of capillaries and penetration into the subcutaneous fat of the vascular fluid. As a result, blisters and swelling appear on the patient's body.

There are several sources of increasing the content of histamine in the human body:

  • the use of foods that contain histamine (cheeses, tomatoes, spinach, cocoa and others);
  • the inclusion in the diet of the so-called histamine-liberators - products that contribute to the increased production of histamine in mast cells (strawberries, chocolate, citrus fruits);
  • accumulation of histamine due to dysbacteriosis or other disorders normal functioning digestive system.

Therefore, with hives and other allergic diseases, it is very important to follow a strict diet that limits the intake of histamine and substances that contribute to its increased production. This is the only way to get rid of the symptoms of urticaria and prevent the occurrence of relapses in the future.

Types of hypoallergenic diets

Allergists and nutritionists distinguish two systems special food with urticaria:

One of the most famous hypoallergenic nutritional systems is the diet developed by the famous Soviet immunologist A.D. Ado. It is based on a special scheme, which involves the complete exclusion of allergen products, and then their gradual introduction into the diet. The Ado diet is recommended not only for adults, but also for children, as well as pregnant and lactating women.

Basic principles of hypoallergenic nutrition

In order for the system rational nutrition when urticaria was as effective as possible, it is important not only to exclude “problem” products from the menu, but also to adhere to certain rules:

  • keep a food diary, where you write down information about all the dishes and foods you eat, as well as the body's reaction to them;
  • give preference to homemade food, limit visits to restaurants, cafes and other places Catering, completely abandon fast food;
  • increase the amount of fluid to 2-2.5 liters per day (depending on body weight);
  • when cooking, boil, steam, bake or stew foods with a small amount of fat;

  • do not eat fried, smoked, pickled or canned foods;
  • refuse products containing preservatives, thickeners, food colorings and other additives;
  • include in the menu simple meals with a minimum number of ingredients;
  • limit the intake of salt and sugar as much as possible;
  • completely eliminate alcoholic beverages.

Despite the limitations, the menu for urticaria should be varied. It is important to remember that the constant use of the same products, even completely hypoallergenic, can sooner or later provoke the onset of symptoms of the disease.

Table of allowed and prohibited products

When compiling a hypoallergenic menu, you must check the list of allowed and prohibited foods and dishes, which are included in the following table:

If, after consuming any product from the permitted list, the patient has symptoms of urticaria, then it must be immediately excluded. In the case when the diet is effective, after 2-3 weeks it is recommended to enter into the menu one product from the list of prohibited items, carefully monitor the body's reaction, and record the results in a food diary.

Sample menu for the week

Hypoallergenic diet for hives and others allergic diseases provides for fractional meals (up to 6 times a day) in small portions to prevent overeating. In addition to the main meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner, it is recommended to have 2-3 snacks during which you drink kefir or natural yogurt, eat allowed fruit or fruit puree.

A sample menu for an adult for a week consists of the following dishes:

Instead of compote, you can drink natural fruit or vegetable juices, using only permitted fruits for their preparation. In order not to provoke the appearance of symptoms of urticaria, juices must be diluted with boiled or mineral water in a ratio of 1:1.

Features of the diet for acute urticaria

The acute form of urticaria is characterized by the sudden appearance of rashes upon contact with an irritant allergen. Clinical manifestations there may also be chills, headache, fever and nausea.

Food in acute period should be organized like this:

  • in the first two days - a starvation diet and plentiful drink(up to 2.5 liters of mineral water without gas per day);
  • then the gradual introduction of fat-free kefir or natural yogurt into the diet, vegetable puree, crackers from whole grain bread;

  • if the symptoms of the disease decrease, you can start eating small portions of foods included in the allowed list - lean meat, cottage cheese, cereals, stewed vegetables.

All meals should be served warm so as not to provoke an attack of cold or heat urticaria. The introduction of new products and the reaction of the body to them should be recorded in a food diary.

A hypoallergenic diet for acute urticaria should be followed for at least 3 weeks after the symptoms of the disease disappear.

Features of nutrition in chronic urticaria

A distinctive feature of this form of the disease is the alternation of periods of remission with acute attacks. Patients who are diagnosed with chronic urticaria need to adhere to a hypoallergenic diet constantly.

A rational nutrition system for chronic urticaria in adults and children is as follows:

  • consume only products from the permitted list;
  • once a week, add one prohibited product in small amounts, observing the reaction. Gradually introducing new components into food, identify the allergen and exclude it from the diet;
  • gradually expand the list of permitted products, which should become the basis of nutrition for life.

It should be noted that a hypoallergenic diet for urticaria is part of complex therapy. Therefore, the nutrition system must be developed in conjunction with a dermatologist or allergist after an accurate diagnosis.
