Conception as it should be. How to properly prepare for conceiving a child? Remember that the accuracy of ovulation days is affected by

What needs to be done in order to conceive a child? Firstly, stop using contraceptives, secondly, tune in to pregnancy and relax, and thirdly, be patient and wait.

If you have used any contraceptives, but not hormonal methods, you can start conceiving a child immediately. If you were protected using pills, in this case, according to Russian doctors, you should not plan to conceive a child during the next menstrual cycle.

It is believed that the hormones you took may affect the reproductive system of the unborn child. However, Western experts do not insist on this precaution before conception: everyone knows cases when women who accidentally forgot to take another pill ended up in an “interesting” situation, and their pregnancy was no different from others, and the baby’s development went as expected .

How does conception occur?

From the first day of menstruation until the fourteenth day of the cycle (if it lasts 28 days), thanks to the hormone FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone of the pituitary gland), about ten follicles develop inside each ovary, the walls of which produce the female hormones estrogens. When one of the follicles reaches maturity, the pituitary gland receives a signal and sends “down” another “messenger” - the hormone LH (lutenizing hormone of the pituitary gland), which causes ovulation. After 12-36 hours, the only follicle that has reached maturity ruptures and releases an egg, which enters the fallopian tube and waits for sperm to appear there. And if they are there or appear, then a child is conceived.

By the way, unlike long-lived tailed sperm (sperm do not lose their strength for 48 hours or more), the “patience” of the egg lasts only for 24 hours, during which the most important thing should happen. Thanks to this precise schedule, we can say that a woman is ready to conceive only three days a month. Which days this honor will fall depends on the length of the menstrual cycle. If the egg is released in the middle of the cycle. And it lasts 28-30 days, expect ovulation fourteen days after the start of menstruation, but if your period comes every 25 days, the egg will be released on the eleventh day.

Before conceiving a child

To conceive a child, it is important to be healthy (this note applies to both men and women). For expectant mothers, it is of particular importance what condition the fallopian tubes are in (they must be flexible, without narrowing and various kinds of obstacles) and the uterus is healthy and ready to receive a fertilized egg. Plus, the woman should have enough good quality cervical mucus, which will help sperm quickly reach their cherished goal.

If you are thinking about having a child, it is not necessary to undergo a full medical examination. The exception is those women who have ever encountered gynecological problems, such as infections. In this case, before deciding to become pregnant, they need to undergo an examination and receive confirmation that all problems are behind them. For other expectant mothers, a simple consultation before conception is enough, during which the obstetrician-gynecologist can give some recommendations.

  • Lose excess weight (of course, we are not talking about two or three kilograms that accidentally appeared during vacation). Excess weight, as well as extreme thinness, often disrupts the production of hormones and, as a result, ovulation mechanisms.
  • Stop smoking in advance. As you know, tobacco and pregnancy are not the most ideal combination. Moreover, excessive addiction to nicotine increases the risk of premature birth.
  • Remember the right to rest and get a good rest before conceiving: it is known that fatigue and stress can interfere with conceiving a child.

As for everything else, you need to live a normal life without following any special regime. For example, there is no need to have sex as often as possible. On the contrary, frequent relationships do not increase, but decrease the chances of becoming happy parents: the concentration of sperm during ejaculation decreases from time to time. The ideal option is regular sexual intercourse three days before and three days after ovulation.

Before conception, determine the day of ovulation

Remember that even if you strictly follow all the doctors’ recommendations, maintain physical health and psychological attitude at the highest level, in the first month the chances of getting pregnant are 25%. This reads as normal, it’s just important not to forget about it and not worry. But if you are unable to conceive a child within a year and a half, consult a doctor. First, the specialist will advise you to chart your basal temperature - this is a very simple but effective way to find out how and when ovulation occurs. Every day, before getting out of bed, measure the temperature in the rectum and make a graph of these indicators.

Until the moment of ovulation, the temperature will remain below 37 degrees C, but on the day the egg is released it rises sharply thanks to the hormone progesterone, which is produced in the second phase of the cycle. If the temperature difference is 0.5 degrees C, it means ovulation has occurred.

The basal temperature chart says a lot. If you combine its results and the “health history” of the expectant mother, it will be easier for the doctor to help the woman, prescribe her treatment or suggest that she undergo examinations. One of them is called hysterosalpingography - this study allows you to evaluate the condition of the fallopian tubes and uterus. And in order to determine the motility and quality of sperm, experts will advise the future father to take a spermogram.

In a man, sperm remain super active until the age of 40-45, although their quality and quantity lose some changes. But even later, representatives of the stronger sex can conceive a child: who has not heard of men who became fathers at the age of 60?

According to doctors, you need to decide to have your first child before the age of 30, since starting from 35, a woman may have difficulties not only with conceiving (at this age cycles without ovulation occur more often), but also with the course of pregnancy.

Those women who plan to become mothers take their feelings in the first days of pregnancy with great responsibility. Observing their body, they strive to see any signs of the birth of a new life.

Experts note that there are two stages of your pregnancy: obstetric term (counted from the first day of menstruation) and true term (counted from the day of conception). In most cases, it is very difficult to determine the exact day of conception, which is why antenatal clinics consider the first day of menstruation as the starting point. Today we will talk about the first signs of pregnancy according to the true term.

The first days of pregnancy after conception: what happens in the body

Turning to science, we note that the first week after conception cannot yet be called pregnancy. The fact is that a fertilized egg moves within 7-10 days to the place where it will be located and develop from an embryo into a fetus. Only after its attachment to the walls of the uterus can we talk about pregnancy. Menstruation occurs if this attachment does not occur, and then the woman does not even suspect that conception has occurred.

If the fertilized egg reaches the uterus, then it is implanted into the walls of the uterus (). After successful implantation, the umbilical cord and placenta begin to form. The first week after conception is very important in the period of conceiving a new life, since the woman’s body perceives the embryo as a foreign body and tries in every possible way to reject it, not allowing it to consolidate properly.

After successful implantation of the embryo, the first thing that happens in the body is hormonal changes . A woman begins to produce a special hormone that is responsible for the safety of the fetus in the female body in the early stages of pregnancy: known as hCG. The presence of this hormone in the blood gives a 100% guarantee of pregnancy. Most doctors and women trust a blood test for hCG more than pregnancy tests in the early days, although the latter also react to the presence of the hormone.

The first days of pregnancy: how to recognize

For a healthy woman, the first sign of pregnancy is always a delay. But, if you do not monitor your general condition and do not plan your pregnancy, then the delay is determined when the pregnancy has already lasted 2-3 weeks. Several signs may indicate that in the first days after conception the embryo is implanted into the walls of the uterus.

1. Minor bleeding. On days 7-12 after conception, when the embryo implants into the walls of the uterus, a woman may experience slight bleeding (implantation bleeding). It may appear as several brownish or yellowish spots on underwear or paper. If pregnancy is not planned, then this phenomenon is often perceived as the beginning of menstruation. If such spots appear when pregnancy has already been accurately diagnosed, then this may be a signal of a threat of miscarriage, and requires urgent consultation with a doctor. This sign may be absent in the first days of pregnancy, it all depends on the individuality of the body.

2. Increased body temperature and basal temperature. When planning pregnancy, the method of measuring basal temperature is often used to determine the date of ovulation. When the egg is successfully fertilized, this temperature first drops and then rises. Low basal temperature in the first days of pregnancy is caused by two factors:

  • When pregnancy occurs, estrogen is released, which lowers the temperature;
  • Progesterone begins to be produced more strongly again, which increases the temperature.

Thus, by monitoring your basal temperature, when pregnancy is already confirmed, you can see a “hole” on the graph with a decrease in temperature. This decline lasts only 1 day, then the temperature rises. The norm is a basal temperature of 37 degrees, until the placenta begins to fully function (the first few weeks). If you do not notice a decline, then it is impossible not to notice an increased temperature for 2-3 weeks.

3. Feeling slightly unwell . A woman’s well-being may worsen in the first days of pregnancy. Drowsiness and weakness often appear. Many even become slightly ill, complaining of a sore throat and runny nose. This is all due to a decrease in immunity and the body’s struggle with the implanting embryo.

In the first trimester, body temperature is always elevated, but only slightly. Hence the general weakness. The main condition for the normal course of pregnancy with such ailment is not to be treated with medications that can harm the unborn child. When planning a pregnancy, it is generally better to refuse all medications unless they are absolutely necessary, and resort exclusively to folk remedies that are not contraindicated during pregnancy.

There is a feeling of apathy and fatigue. This is due not only to the general restructuring of the body, but also to the increased production of progesterone. These sensations may stop quickly, or may drag on until the 10th week of pregnancy, when more estrogen begins to be produced.

4. Breast tenderness . In the first days of pregnancy, a woman’s breasts begin to swell, pain appears, that is, its sensitivity increases. Even the slightest touch can be painful.

Sometimes everything happens completely opposite. Previously, a woman experienced painful sensations before each period, but now she is surprised that her breasts do not hurt. Soon after an amazing moment, she learns that she is pregnant. Often, when pressing on the areola, colostrum can be released in early pregnancy.

5. Heaviness in the pelvic area . The manifestation of the first days of pregnancy may be a feeling of heaviness in the pelvic organs. Many women begin to feel the uterus immediately after embryo implantation. The degree of this sensation is individual for each organism.

6. Tingling in the uterus . Also, an individual pregnancy rate can indicate not only successful conception and implantation.

7. Early toxicosis , accompanied by nausea and vomiting, along with others, is a sign of the first days of pregnancy. Toxicosis is also considered a special sensitivity to certain odors and foods. There may be a feeling of disgust for previously favorite foods.

In the early days of pregnancy, you may come to love things you previously hated. Also, the early stages are characterized by strange food combinations: herring with compote, ram with chocolate, pineapple with sausage. Those around them grimace at the sight of such food, and the pregnant woman experiences indescribable bliss.

The first days of pregnancy: false symptoms

Some of the above symptoms may indicate more than just pregnancy. They may indicate intestinal diseases, cervical erosion and other diseases of the female genital organs. Such symptoms include bleeding, nausea, increased urination, and breast swelling can also indicate not only the onset of pregnancy.

The first days of pregnancy: what to do

Any method of determining pregnancy begins to work only with the onset of a missed period. Even knowing the exact day of ovulation, no analysis or test will indicate pregnancy the day after fertilization. An hCG test, a pregnancy test, and an ultrasound examination of the pelvic organs are best done in the first week of missed menstruation.

When planning a pregnancy and anticipating its occurrence, you should completely change your lifestyle even six months before conception. If the first symptoms of pregnancy are present, but they do not cause you any particular discomfort, then wait for the delay and the opportunity to do a test. A visit to the gynecologist in the first week after conception will not give any result other than a stack of referrals for tests.

During this period, you can read something useful and pleasant about pregnancy, inquire about upcoming courses for expectant mothers, take care of your body and start doing gymnastics for pregnant women (even if you are not pregnant, physical exercise never hurts).

Just spend this time with joy and pleasant impressions. Talk to the future dad about a possible miracle. You should go to the doctor after a positive pregnancy test, a 2-week delay in menstruation, or if you have gynecological problems.

If the symptoms manifest themselves very intensely and the malaise intensifies, then the visit to the doctor should be postponed to an earlier date. This is especially true for those who have previously had problems conceiving or carrying a pregnancy.

The first trimester of pregnancy is the most important. At this time, all the vital organs of the baby are formed. The very first days of pregnancy play a huge role in the onset of pregnancy in general.

If you did not plan your pregnancy, then try to predict it (by having unprotected sexual intercourse) and not harm the baby. If pregnancy is planned, then behave as before: maintain proper nutrition, avoid heavy physical activity and do not be nervous, then a miracle will definitely happen.

The first days of pregnancy (video)

I like!

When planning a pregnancy, every couple should be aware that the chances of conceiving the first time are very low. According to statistics, Pregnancy occurs the first time in only 10%. Such a small percentage of the probability is explained by the fact that it is necessary to precisely meet the viability periods of both the egg and the sperm. Within 24 hours, the egg can be fertilized; it is very rare that this ability persists for up to 48 hours. Sperm remain viable for a maximum of 6 days.

Many people, wanting to have a child, mistakenly believe that they just need to stop using contraception and they can get pregnant in the shortest possible time. This is a false opinion, since many nuances should be taken into account when planning a pregnancy.

Probability of quick conception occurs under the following factors:

  1. The average menstrual cycle is 28 days, but not every day of them is suitable for conception. Only three days out of the entire cycle are fertile.
    Note!
There are very few women who have an accurate menstrual cycle. Its course is affected by stressful situations, nervous tension, and hormonal imbalances.
  2. The activity of sperm in the female uterus is on average three days; it is extremely rare that they remain viable for up to six days. Therefore, sexual intercourse should occur exactly a day or a day or two before.
  3. It is very difficult to accurately calculate the day of ovulation, especially if you have an irregular menstrual cycle. But even with correct calculations, the probability of pregnancy is 25%. Important factors are the health and age of each partner, previous abortions or other surgical interventions in the female reproductive system.
  4. Regular sexual intercourse on fertile days means a 10% chance of conception the first time and a 30% chance of egg fertilization throughout the year.

Fertilization of the egg can occur the first time, but one should not exclude the risk that the zygote will not attach to the uterine epithelium and will leave the body with the onset of menstruation.

What is the probability of getting pregnant the first time

Is it possible to get pregnant the first time and what are the chances? According to gynecologists, every sixth couple who adheres to a healthy lifestyle succeeds in getting pregnant the first time.

If conception does not occur the first time, then statistics determine the exact period in which pregnancy will occur - six months of active sexual activity without any contraception. At the same time, one should not exclude the possibility of the egg not being fertilized when it meets a sperm; this happens in almost 25%.

Therefore, if you make accurate calculations, then only 6% of cases will be marked by a successful pregnancy. Healthy couples who are planning a child while having sex three times a week already in less than six months they become happy parents(according to statistics this is 60%). It also all depends on the age at which you decided to have a baby, because ovulatory cycles become irregular every year.

How can you get pregnant quickly the first time? If patience is not an issue, then the woman should calculate the days of ovulation. Between the ages of 20 and 25, a girl can get pregnant the fastest. In a young body, ready to bear a child, regular ovulation occurs. Further disruptions may occur with age.

  1. With a regular menstrual cycle, approximately Ovulation occurs on day 12.
  2. Fertile days are determined using . In this case, the indicators should be 37.4 in the absence of colds.
  3. You can also use special tests to determine the day of ovulation.
  4. On the day of ovulation, you need to have sex, then the chances of a quick pregnancy will increase.

Don't forget that stress affects the accuracy of the cycle and fertile days, anxiety and fatigue, as well as hormonal disorders. Therefore, the day of ovulation may fall much earlier or shift several days later than expected. It is even possible that during menstruation there is a possibility of fertilization of the egg. In this case, everything depends only on the individuality of the female body.

Why can't I get pregnant the first time? When planning a pregnancy, you should take into account that some points may interfere with conception.

Factors that prevent pregnancy the first time:

  1. Taking antibiotics. They can affect the liver and thereby prevent rapid conception.
  2. The use of additional means during sexual intercourse, for example, intimate lubricant. The environment that is formed during the use of lubricant can destroy sperm or make them less active.
  3. Having sex on unfavorable days. It is impossible to get pregnant on any day of the cycle.
  4. The woman has a history of abortions. These interventions affect women's health and future pregnancies.
  5. Diagnosis in a woman various physiological abnormalities– bending of the cervix or obstruction of the fallopian tubes. In this case, under no circumstances will pregnancy occur the first time.
  6. If a woman has tumor-like formations on the reproductive organs.
  7. Unhealthy lifestyle of partners.

A number of reasons that prevent the rapid onset of pregnancy can be eliminated with the help of treatment.

Examination by a doctor as an important part of pregnancy planning

It is very important to check for the presence of pathologies when planning a pregnancy. One of the main ones is an ultrasound examination, which determines the shape and position of the uterus, the patency of the fallopian tubes (a painful procedure), as well as the period of ovulation. At the same time, not only the woman should undergo examination. For men Semen samples should be taken for sperm activity. If both partners are healthy, then the percentage of conception on the day of ovulation is high.

How to get pregnant the first time: sex positions

There is an opinion that the onset of pregnancy quickly depends on the position. This theory is considered largely false, since pregnancy can only depend on the day on which sexual intercourse took place.

If a woman is diagnosed with a tilted uterus, then the position can help for deeper penetration of seminal fluid. In this case, in order to get pregnant faster, it is recommended to regularly have sex in a position where the woman is on all fours and the man is behind. Then the deepest penetration occurs. After ejaculation, the woman should lie down for several minutes with her legs raised up, it is best to use the “birch tree” position.

  • In order for successful conception to occur and the fetus to develop further without pathologies, doctors recommend that partners do not drink alcohol and stop smoking six months before the planned pregnancy.
  • For men it is necessary to reconsider the diet and exclude fried and spicy foods, which have a bad effect on the production and activity of sperm.
  • Women Instead of coffee and tea, you should drink decoctions based on medicinal herbs. The main collection should include chamomile, sage, mint, and wintergreen.
  • It is considered one of the main herbs that promotes rapid pregnancy (it is even used in the treatment of infertility).

How to conceive a child the first time: video

We invite you to watch a video in which you will learn about conceiving a child.

Conceiving a child quickly is a labor-intensive process that requires preparation on the part of both parents. Therefore, only with correct calculations of fertile days and other related factors can you get pregnant the first time. How are you doing with your attempts to get pregnant? Share your experience!

Ironically, pregnancy is a mysterious and rarely predictable fact. The piquancy lies in the fact that many can conceive a child almost “unexpectedly” for themselves, in other words, “get pregnant,” but precisely that category of women who passionately want and wait for conception faces a problem - pregnancy still does not occur. In order to help speed up the onset of this desired event, this article was created. Let's consider some factors that in one way or another influence the rate of conceiving a child.

Effective sexual positions for conception

It’s trite, but according to the results of research by scientists, the classic (missionary) and the so-called “dog pose” - when the man is behind him - were among the most effective in terms of fertilization.

Let's help the survivors!

Most women after sex, especially if it is aimed at conception, try to lie down for a while. But few people know that if you place a pillow under the pelvic area, then simple bliss in bed can become a useful aid in moving sperm towards their cherished goal. According to doctors, this position of the body contributes to better movement of the seed to the cervix.
Also, those who want to get pregnant quickly need to know that after sex, any activities that can provoke an increase in body temperature (hot shower or bath, intense sports) are highly discouraged.

About the benefits of contraception

Surprising but true! Studies have shown that after at least three months of continuous use of oral contraceptives (the pill) and then stopping them, women conceived faster than those who did not take contraceptives.
Gynecologists have even introduced the practice of prescribing birth control pills for three months to women who have been unable to conceive for a long time.

Say no to lubricants!

Since lubricant changes the acid-base balance in the vagina, using it during sex can only harm conception - they interfere with the motor activity of sperm. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid moisturizers altogether; in extreme cases, it is better to use olive oil.

Sex according to the calendar - when is the best time to conceive a child?

The likelihood of getting pregnant increases greatly if you have unprotected sex five days before and on the day of ovulation. With a regular 28-day menstrual cycle, ovulation occurs on the 14th day after the start of menstruation. If the cycle length is different, the easiest way to determine the day of ovulation is to count 14 days from the date of the expected next menstruation. Due to the fact that sperm have the ability to fertilize for several days, unprotected sex can occur for several days before the release of the egg from the ovary (ovulation). With a regular cycle, tracking will be relevant for you in calculating the day of ovulation. If it is irregular, it makes sense to purchase ovulation tests to determine the optimal time for conception.

How often should you have sex to get pregnant?

It is a mistaken belief that frequent sex promotes rapid conception. This not only exhausts the man himself, but also reduces the sperm count with each subsequent ejaculation.
Therefore, the best option would be to have sex once a day with breaks of a couple of days.
The main thing is not to get hung up!
Constantly focusing on trying to get pregnant will not lead to anything good. This can not only cause stress, but also negatively affect your relationship with your partner. You shouldn’t forget about pleasure either, because a sex marathon is also emotionally exhausting.
Relax and give the conception process the lightest atmosphere of love and trust, and don’t reduce everything to mechanics. Then the long-awaited pregnancy will become a truly joyful event, and will not be overshadowed by grievances and reproaches.

Is douching with soda an effective method of conceiving a child?

Sometimes in our lives there are situations when it is impossible to get pregnant, and the reasons for this are unknown.

It happens that the tests show good results, no pathologies are identified, but pregnancy still does not occur. It is possible that pregnancy does not occur because the environment in the vagina is too acidic. In this case, sperm simply cannot fertilize the egg because they die. In this case, you can try douching with soda, which will help make the environment in the vagina alkaline. And then there is a high probability that pregnancy will occur.

For douching, take half a teaspoon of soda and mix it with one liter of warm water. Under no circumstances should you douche with hot water, otherwise it may cause a burn in the vaginal mucosa. Then this solution must be poured into a syringe or Esmarch’s mug. To douche, lie in the bathtub with your feet on the edge, or sit over the toilet. All prepared soda water must be introduced into the vagina in a thin stream. The best period for douching is considered to be from the 11th to the 18th day of the cycle. These days you should douche daily. After this, the douche must be thoroughly disinfected so as not to introduce an infection into the vagina. To disinfect, you need to take a weak solution of potassium permanganate, and wipe the outside of the syringe with alcohol.

This method helps create an alkaline environment in the vagina, which is ideal for conception. When using this method, the following guidelines must be followed;

  • - during ovulation, when douching is used, you should not drink alcohol, smoke or drink coffee in large quantities.
  • - you should not visit the bathhouse or sauna at this time, since overheating at this time is contraindicated.
  • - be sure to ask your doctor if this procedure is contraindicated for you. If a woman has erosion, then douching with soda should not be done.
  • - the syringe must be disinfected most thoroughly, as there is a huge risk of contracting an infectious disease.

How to conceive a boy

It is believed that every man wants his wife to give birth to a boy. Is it possible to conceive a boy using some methods? There are a lot of links on the Internet to articles about what you need to do to conceive a boy. There are frankly funny ones, based on lunar and solar cycles, etc. For example, one of them says: “To conceive a boy, a couple needs to have their heads facing the North during sex.” The purpose of this note is not to offend fans of Feng Shui, but to summarize the observations of gynecologists and help answer the question of whether it is possible to conceive a boy “by order”.
Some doctors, albeit with serious reservations, say that in order to conceive a boy it is necessary to very accurately determine the time of ovulation. At this moment, due to the greater mobility of sperm carrying the Y chromosome, there is a chance “to have time to fertilize the egg before those carrying the X chromosome reach it.” Accurate timing is the best method to conceive a boy.
It seems to us that such advice is more like fortune telling on coffee grounds. The chances of conceiving a boy are always 50%, so those couples who have male children can support this theory, instilling hope in those suffering to conceive a boy.

There are articles that directly recommend, with reference to secret knowledge (either Japan or Tibet), to adhere to a certain diet. They say eat more calcium and conceiving a boy will no longer be a problem, eat potassium - and here you have a girl! With the same success, we can recommend reading books whose main characters are men in order to conceive a boy. And God forbid you read detective stories about Miss Marple - only girls will be born.

It has been proven that it is possible to accurately (99.9%) predict the sex of the unborn child only with IVF. Therefore, I would like to give advice to young couples. Don't bother yourself with nonsense! A child of any gender will be happiness for you. Well, if you really want to conceive a boy, then follow all the recommendations of various specialists except those dangerous to health) and you will increase the chances of conceiving a boy by up to 50%. =)

How to conceive a boy 100 percent video

Conceiving a child is a very interesting process. After all, from just two cells of the human body, a new life begins to develop and after some time a baby is born. The birth of a child can be called a real miracle! We will tell you a little more about the process of conception step by step in the article.

Where does conception begin?

Conception process- this is not pregnancy yet, but the process is quite complex and it begins when seminal fluid enters the woman’s vagina. This fluid helps reduce the acidity of the vagina and contains up to three million sperm.

Each sperm, in turn, contains an X or Y chromosome, which is responsible for the sex of the unborn baby. Depending on which chromosome the sperm is the first to penetrate the female egg, the sex of the child will be determined.

So, seminal fluid, which contains sperm with different chromosomes, first penetrates the woman’s body. What happens next? Then they need to meet an egg ready for fertilization. It should be noted that they can maintain their vital activity for up to nine days and, if during this period of time they encounter an egg, fertilization will occur.

Fertilization process

The fertilization process itself cannot be seen. Therefore, how this happens can only be learned from information from books or feature films. Even a woman cannot feel it, although some claim that feel special sensations at this time, For example:

  • sharp tingling;
  • minor painful or pulling sensations or something else.

There is also a misconception that fertilization itself occurs in the uterine cavity. Only this is not true at all. Although sperm enter the uterus for fertilization to occur, they must pass through the fallopian tubes to meet the egg released from the ovary.

The egg can wait for the sperm, moving towards the uterus, within twenty-four hours from the moment of release from the ovary. If during this time no sperm is encountered on her way, she dies, and after a while the woman begins menstruation. And everything repeats from month to month.

Fallopian tubes - what happens in them?

What is a fallopian tube? This is a paired organ of the female reproductive system through which the egg moves after leaving the ovary. They are the connecting element between the uterus and the abdominal cavity and it is there that the mature egg meets the sperm.

The fallopian tubes have special ciliated epithelium, which is directed inward. The ciliated epithelium performs a special function. It helps push and guide the egg towards the uterus. The sperm and egg are found in the fallopian tubes. Each of the numerous sperm strives to penetrate the egg, but only one succeeds. Of course, there are exceptions:

  • sometimes two eggs are released from the ovary and then fertilization of two eggs occurs at once and twins begin to develop;
  • or one egg is occasionally fertilized by two sperm at once, then two fetuses develop at once and as a result twins are born, similar as two peas in a pod.

How does fertilization itself occur? First, the head of the sperm must penetrate the egg. This head contains a special enzyme that is able to dissolve the wall of the egg so that fusion can occur. As soon as the head penetrates inside, the tail, necessary for movement, falls off. It's no longer needed. But the egg changes its surface and becomes a zygote. Now sperm will no longer be able to get there.

What happens after the formation of a zygote?

So, the sperm and the egg united into one and formed a zygote. But what will happen next? And then the process of division begins. This happens about a day and a half after the formation of the zygote. After forty-eight hours, the first stage of division comes to an end and the zygote becomes two cells, which are called blastomeres. The fallopian tubes are already beginning to become not the most suitable place for active growth and further development.

On the third day of development the embryo continues to form. Now the zygote contains from six to eight blastomeres and the embryo begins to form its own personal genome. While this time is not even considered the beginning of pregnancy.

But on the fourth day the zygote begins its movement into the uterine cavity. At this time, the zygote has sixteen cells and begins to take on a certain shape. The zygote now enters the fallopian tubes.

However, this time is in some ways considered a dangerous period. Sometimes a fertilized egg may not descend into the uterus. Then implantation will occur directly in the fallopian tube, that is, an ectopic pregnancy will occur and then surgical intervention will not be possible.

Due to the fact that conception occurs in the fallopian tube, nature has provided for the zygote is quite small in size. And it retains such dimensions until the very moment of transfer to the uterus. But some processes in the body or pathologies can lead to the fact that the pipes can narrow, thereby preventing the egg from moving forward. Then she will have no choice but to attach herself to the pipe wall. But it does not stop its development, but continues to grow further. And this is very dangerous. If this is not noticed in time and emergency measures are not taken, the consequences can be very bad.

What happens to the embryo next?

On the fifth day from the moment of fertilization The woman doesn’t even know about her situation yet. She feels as usual, but in the meantime the embryo has already moved to the uterus and is looking for a convenient place for attachment and further development.

Once such a place is found, the egg will attach to one of the walls of the uterus. And now the development of the fetus will begin, which will last for thirty-eight, or even forty weeks.

The size of the embryo at this time reaches only 0.5mm in diameter, and approximately on the ninth or tenth day of its existence, the zygote is completely immersed in the uterine walls. This process is called implantation and lasts approximately forty hours.

At this moment, women can rarely feel anything. However, women who have several children, for whom pregnancy is not the first time, and especially sensitive individuals who are looking forward to the baby, may note some symptoms of ongoing implantation. It can be:

  • slight malaise;
  • In rare cases, implantation bleeding. Such bleeding can easily be confused with menstruation, however, it is less profuse and often has a brownish tint. If it is prolonged and lasts more than twelve days, then this is one of the first signals to see a doctor.
