An open sweet pie made from frozen blueberries will decorate both a family tea party in a narrow circle and a large feast.

Did you know? Blueberry pie is an old, almost ancient treat that was a very popular holiday dish among the Slavs. It was prepared both for weddings and funerals, and the berry itself symbolized prosperity and the wealth of nature’s gifts. In addition, today scientists have found that blueberries help restore intestinal balance and also strengthen blood vessels.

In addition, if desired, you can add another tablespoon of cottage cheese to the dough; it harmonizes wonderfully with blueberries.

Filling

  • 150 – 200 g blueberries (frozen or fresh);
  • 2 table. l. wheat flour;
  • 1 tsp. corn or potato starch.

Frozen or fresh blueberry pie filling can also contain other berries, such as lingonberries or even cloudberries. However, we should not add strawberries as they are too watery and can make our cake too soft and brittle.

Additionally

  • 10 g butter margarine.

Did you know? It may seem that it is much simpler and easier to knead such dough without removing the blender, but, unfortunately, this is not the case. The only thing that must be beaten is eggs with sugar, since they will give airiness to your pie, and beating eggs with flour will make the baked goods “wooden” with a hard crust.

Made! As you can see, you didn’t have to move mountains to make a pie with one of the best fillings in the world, so feel free to recommend it to beginners. As for decoration, there are options: you can simply sprinkle the baked goods with powdered sugar (which must first be mixed with nut dust), or you can make a full-fledged glaze.

The simplest one is prepared quickly - add three tablespoons of sugar to the egg white and mix until white, but this will have to be done again by hand, because in the blender the white will quickly turn into foam. In general, it’s up to you to decide, I’m for any option!

That seems to be all, I just need to recommend you a couple more options for blueberry pies, which are prepared a little differently, but are just as amazingly tasty, and are definitely worth baking.

For example, try crumbly blueberry shortcake - this product bakes faster, the bottom never burns in the oven, and it disappears from the plate in a matter of minutes. But if you are not too happy with shortbread dough, you can try the famous pie with cottage cheese and blueberries, ideal for those who watch their figure and appreciate low-calorie, but very tasty and delicate pastries. All these recipes have been tested by me personally (more than once), so you can safely start baking!

I wish you good luck in your culinary experiments and a good mood - an indispensable attribute of ideal baking. I really look forward to your feedback, reports, comments, as well as your ideas and tips for improving the above frozen blueberry pie recipe. Enjoy your meal!

The Russian table has always been famous for its abundance. And you won’t find such magnificent pies as ours in the whole world! The list of native Russian dishes includes pies of various shapes and consistencies. The variety of fillings is also surprising: fish, meat, vegetable, fruit, potato and, of course, berries. It’s not without reason that the Russian proverb says: “You can wrap everything in a pie.” In our article today we will wrap blueberries in it.

Blueberries have a lot of advantages, they are tasty and incredibly healthy. It has long been proven that blueberries are a biogenic stimulant: they cleanse the body of toxins, significantly reduce blood sugar levels and have a beneficial effect on the visual system. Therefore, blueberry pies, which retain almost all the beneficial properties of fresh berries, are a great way not only to follow a healthy lifestyle, but also to improve your health to some extent.

Also good are products with priceless fruits, prepared according to the “cheesecake” principle, which, in addition to blueberries, contain unsalted cream cheese or fatty cottage cheese and consist almost entirely of filling.

Blueberry pies are made closed, semi-closed (lattice) or open, large or small, rectangular, triangular or round, and regardless of the chosen shape, they will always delight those with a sweet tooth with their original taste and aromatic aroma. As for the dough, almost any dough is suitable for blueberry pie: be it yeast or shortbread, or unleavened, or puff pastry - there are no strict criteria.

The only thing you need to remember is that the berries on the sides should be surrounded by dough, the so-called “sides”. You should also not overdo it with added sugar, as it provokes the release of juice. The best alternative to sugar in this situation is powdered sugar, which is sprinkled on open pies a few minutes before they are ready.

Blueberry Pie - Food Preparation

If you decide to bake a juicy pie with blueberries, naturally, you should first purchase them, clean them of unnecessary particles and sticks, sort them thoroughly, rinse them in cold running water, and then pour them over with boiling water and dry them in a colander until the unnecessary moisture drips off. By the way, pies made from frozen berries are no less tasty and aromatic. The main thing is to prepare them correctly: put the frozen fruits in a colander and leave them there until completely thawed. So we’ll keep them in shape and let the excess juice drain.

In addition, for the dough we will most likely need chicken eggs, butter, powdered sugar, vanillin, baking powder (or soda) and the most important ingredient - premium flour, which must be sifted.

— For additional taste and aroma, culinary experts advise adding a little lemon or orange juice, rum or liqueur to the blueberry filling;

— The amazing taste of blueberry pie is emphasized by: whipped cream, ice cream, and sour cream whipped with sugar;

— To avoid excessive leakage of juice under high temperature, add starch to the filling. You can save the situation with the help of egg white, which is used to brush the dough before placing the berries on it. Moreover, ordinary cookie crumbs added to blueberries can eliminate this defect very effectively.
