Karvala village (translated from Finnish - hair; the emphasis in the name is on the first syllable). On the Swedish map of the Duderhof churchyard in 1690, the name of the village Karvala is clearly visible. The village is located on the south side of the Kirchhoff mountain. It arose at the beginning of the 17th century. Under the terms of the Stolbovo Treaty of 1617, the Dudorovsky churchyard went to Sweden. Most of the Russian population left these regions. The Swedish government attracted Finns and Estonians here. Each colonist received as much land as he could cultivate with his workers. It was necessary to take not only fertile lands, but also waste lands: swamps, wastelands, inconveniences. In the village of Karvala there is a lucky Wind Rose. In winter there are no snow drifts or strong winds. There are springs with clean spring water.

In the 1600s, the Lutheran parish of Tuutari appeared on Mount Kirchhoff. From 1823 to 1914. The Life Guards Cossack Cavalry Regiment of the Imperial Guard was quartered in Karval. Horses were placed in barns in men's yards. Officers and soldiers lived in huts. In front of each stable stood a tall pole with straw decorations. The tassels on the poles indicated the number of horses in the stable (from the book by E. Deital “Great maneuvers of the Russian army, memories of Krasnoye Selo in 1884”). After the Great Patriotic War, an elementary school was opened in the village.
