High-precision sniper rifles ORSIS T-5000 (ORSIST-5000) are produced by the ORSIS weapons plant of the Promtechnologii industrial group, located in Moscow. This plant, launched in May 2011, is unique in its own way for the Russian arms industry. This is a full-fledged high-tech production of full-cycle weapons, built with funds from private investors under the guidance and with the active participation of the highest level shooters. The enterprise is focused primarily on the civilian market of high-precision hunting and sporting weapons, however, the ORSIS product line also includes specialized sniper systems designed for particularly accurate shooting at medium and long ranges. These rifles can be used both by special units of law enforcement agencies (FSB, FSO, Ministry of Internal Affairs), and by specially trained army snipers.

All ORSIS rifles are produced entirely by the enterprise itself, which purchases only raw materials from external suppliers (plastic, rolled steel, barrels in the form of a bar). Due to the widespread use of precision CNC machines, ORSIS rifles, based on one basic design, can have a wide variety of configurations. If we talk about ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifles (ORSIST-5000), then these rifles are offered in two basic versions - with a standard bolt group chambered for .308 Winchester / 7.62x51 and with an extended bolt group chambered for .388 Lapua Magnum / 8.6x71. In both calibers, ORSIS rifles in real field conditions provide a very high and stable accuracy of fire - less than 0.5 MOA, often about 0.3 MOA and better. The practical firing range for rifles of caliber .308 is about 800 meters, for rifles of caliber .388 - up to 1500 meters.

Sniper rifles ORSIS T-5000 (ORSIST-5000) are based on the original bolt group made of stainless steel in two basic sizes ("standard" chambered for .308 and "long" chambered for .388). The bolt is longitudinally sliding, rotary, with locking on two lugs in its front part. The rifle barrels are also made of stainless steel, the rifling is formed by the single-pass cutting method (trellis planing), which ensures a very high quality of the barrel bore geometry, and, as a result, a stable and high accuracy of fire. The geometry of the chamber and bore is optimized for use with prefabricated ammunition. The muzzle of the barrel has a thread for attaching a muzzle brake-compensator or other muzzle devices. It is possible to install barrels with any characteristics, different lengths and contours.

The trigger mechanism (USM) is also made of stainless steel, fully adjustable in all basic parameters. The trigger force, depending on the trigger version, can be smoothly adjusted in the ranges of 500 - 900 g or 1000 - 1500 g. The three-position safety catch is made at the rear of the shutter and, if necessary, allows you to manipulate the shutter when the safety lock is on, or completely block the trigger and gate.

Cartridges are fed from detachable box magazines with a capacity of 5 and 10 rounds.

Rifles T-5000 ( ORSIST-5000) fit into an aluminum "skeletal" stock with a folding butt of the original design (mechanical fixation), a plastic pistol grip and a butt cheek. When the receiver is placed in the stock, the so-called glass-bedding is performed. production of a "bed" in the bed under the bolt group made of epoxy composition with a filler (aluminum or steel powder), due to this, a very tight coupling of the bolt group and the stock is ensured, which significantly increases the stability of the characteristics in terms of accuracy of fire. The stock has a special pad for hand-held shooting. The forend has a special design for mounting a bipod (optimized for Harris, but also has a standard sling swivel), as well as brackets for a pre-objective attachment. The force when folding the butt is about two kilograms, which provides the required rigidity of the structure.

A Mil-Std 1913 rail, colloquially known as the Picatinny rail, is used to mount the sights on the receiver. Due to the specifics of the use of rifles (high-precision shooting at medium and long distances), open sights in the basic configuration are not installed on ORSIS sniper rifles.

Humanity is beginning to forget that classic weapons are still capable of giving the enemy many problems. The domestic high-precision sniper rifle ORSIS T-5000 strikes in every sense. Take, for example, such a detail: the entire ORSIS plant is financed with money from private entrepreneurs - a unique case for Russia. In addition to the production of sporting and hunting weapons, the company has a whole line of special weapons for the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB. The T-5000 belongs to this "special weapon".

Firing range and gun caliber

The Russian rifle is based on the original stainless steel bolt, which is available in two versions for different calibers - 7.62x51 mm and 8.6x71 mm. The maximum firing range depends on the size of the caliber of the cartridge and the size of the bolt mechanism, for the first it is 800 meters, and for the second - up to one and a half kilometers.

The US product has a non-standard caliber 300 Winchester Magnum 7.62x67 mm. On the one hand, the increased size of the ammunition gives a greater (but still less than that of the T-5000) firing range, about 1200 meters. But this plus is completely neutralized by the increased brightness of the flash when fired, because a sniper rifle, first of all, is a weapon hidden from prying eyes and it is simply stupid to unmask oneself with it.

Accuracy

The "high-precision" feature mentioned in the name of the T-5000 was added for a reason. In terms of its accuracy, the T-5000 surpasses all domestic and the vast majority of foreign counterparts.

In the calculations, an indicator called "angular minute" (MOA) is taken - this is the accuracy of fire from different distances in the absence of wind. MOA equal to one indicates that the weapon has an accuracy of fire of about 2.9 centimeters when fired at 100 meters. If the indicator is less than one, then the weapon can be called sniper or accurate. Now imagine that ORSIS has less than 0.5 MOA. At the same time, the XM2010 has much lower rates - at test sites, the accuracy was about 1 MOA.

First in everything

The T-5000 stock, which serves to connect all parts and ease of use of the rifle when firing, is made of an aluminum alloy with increased wear resistance. The trigger mechanism has an interesting feature - for the trigger, you can set several different types of required effort, from 500 to 1500 grams. Cartridges are fed by magazines for 5 and 10 pieces, respectively.

The rifle was designed in such a way as to minimize the physical recoil for the shooter when fired, for which the "overturning" effect of the weapon was reduced. Russian designers also took care of those who like to hunt "from their knees", for which a plastic forend was installed for a comfortable holding of the rifle.

The T-5000 weighs from 5.8 to 6.2 kilograms, which is less than the American XM2010 and all other foreign rifles.

On the receiver there is a "Picattini" rail, which allows you to install almost any sight on the T-5000, for example, the wonderful domestic "Daedalus" with a movable reticle and the ability to use it at night. For the manufacture of the barrel, the technology of planing with a trellis is used, it does not allow the production of a rifle in cosmic quantities, but it takes its quality, such a barrel will last up to two times more. The XM2010 uses a different method, the so-called "backing", which is less costly for the enterprise, but involves more frequent barrel replacement due to its wear. Experts know that rolling takes 10 seconds, while planing takes an hour.

The XM2010 is made from a combination of aluminum and plastic and is coated with an anti-corrosion coating. It has only one magazine option - for 5 rounds. The only possible advantage of the XM2010 is the removable muffler of Advanced Armament Corp. According to its manufacturer, the silencer suppresses the flame by 98 percent when fired and 60 percent - the recoil. True, you have to take these characteristics solely on faith, because in the USA this muffler is not available on the free sale.

The T-5000 can be purchased in a special civilian version designed for sport shooting and hunting. The arrival of the rifle in the Russian armed forces is planned for 2014. The XM2010 has been in service with the US Army since 2010. There is information about its use in Afghanistan and Iraq, with problems traditional for American weapons - sand and not the best adaptation for extreme military conditions.

What associations do security officials have when they hear the "T-5000 sniper rifle"? Obviously, respectful, because deservedly considered the "queen" among the rest of the small arms. " And the new model from Orsis is a clear success of Russian gunsmiths, who brought domestic sniper weapons to the level of the most advanced foreign developments.

It has versatile tactical capabilities that enable combat operations at any time of the day, in any weather. A sniper armed with it is able to immediately start performing combat missions. This balanced weapon is capable of guaranteed hitting the enemy at a distance of up to one and a half kilometers without prior technical training and zeroing.

The army's need for a new sniper rifle

Let's remember the history. The T 5000 replaced the developed in the 60s chambered for 7.62 mm by 54 mm. It is limited in range - up to medium range. Sighting range - 400 m - made it possible to effectively use it in combat operations of the XX century.

However, in the 21st century, the concept of sniping has changed. The firing range of 1 km has become relevant. Based on physics, to increase it, respectively, it is necessary to increase the caliber. However, in practice, this step relative to the Dragunov rifle turned out to be unpromising.

Firstly, the modification of the SVDK, "sharpened" for the 9 mm cartridge, added weight, which caused snipers to criticize the rapid fatigue from firing from unstable states. However, the main drawback was "hidden" in the cartridge itself, developed by Wilhelm Brenekke at the beginning of the 20th century. The product of the German gunsmith had proportions that were not optimal for long-range shooting: a relatively large mass of a bullet with a relatively small sleeve. Accordingly, the energy of the powder gases turned out to be insufficient for aimed shooting more than 400 m.

Russian designers understood the futility of further modernization of the SVD. World sniper rifles (German DSR - 1, American M-110, Israeli M-89 SR, British L-96) have already crossed the 1 km sniping line. This temporary tactical advantage had to be eliminated.

Establishment of a basic enterprise

For tactical support of operations, an innovative rifle was required, corresponding to the class of the best foreign samples. The Promtechnologii group of companies acted as an investor in the creation of the Orsis enterprise, whose mission was to design the Russian T 5000 sniper rifle. The Orsis enterprise (Weapon Systems) implemented a full production cycle: from the manufacture of all parts to the assembly of the rifle itself.

By the end of 2011, the manufacturers have fulfilled their super task - to reach the level of the best foreign developments. According to Alexander Kostin, head of the PR department of the Promtechnologii Group of Companies, currently no more than five companies in the world demonstrate such a level.

Trunk

One of the factors behind the technological advantages of Orsis is the use of innovative high-grade stainless steel alloys. However, this was not enough. After all, the best sniper rifles in the world owe much of their accuracy to barrel cutting.

A short and strenuous path was chosen: immediately go to the industrial cutting of the barrel. Russian gunsmiths have switched from dornning them to single-pass trellis planing with a CNC machine. These machines were created with the help of German and Swiss specialists and components. The developers didn't reinvent the wheel. The starting point for the creation of Russian rifled machines were their British counterparts for single-pass cutting. Their "brain and heart" was a unique CNC from "Promtechnologies". As a result, a new technology was born, in which the deviation from the basic accuracy does not exceed two microns.

The barrel of the new sniper weapon is equipped with longitudinal valleys, which provide additional rigidity and cooling. An important detail of the created weapon is the in-house Orsis three-chamber muzzle brake-compensator. When sniping over long distances, it is unfastened, while the firing range is increased.

Bolt group. Two rifle options

The T 5000 carbine belongs to the "tactical rifle" class. And modern tactics, as already mentioned, involves sniping both at an average distance (400-500 m) and at a long distance (about 1 km).

In connection with the above, the designers have proposed two basic options. In the first (medium-distance), a standard bolt group was used, designed for a standard 7.62 mm cartridge. The second variant (long-range) is characterized by a longer bolt group serving the 8.58 mm Magnum cartridge.

The increase in the aiming range was achieved by increasing the caliber of the cartridge to 8.58 mm by 69 mm.

Another constructive achievement was that the Russian T 5000 sniper rifles have increased operational safety. One of the components of its achievement is a 30% safety margin of the bolt group in relation to the test pressure. With the help of heat treatment (hardening), the strength of the components of the valve group, made of stainless steel, is increased. Special allowed to give them high-precision spatial geometric dimensions.

Trigger mechanism

Structurally, the T 5000 trigger is made of several materials. For the manufacture of the supporting body, stainless steel, reinforced by heat treatment, is used. Internal parts are made of 40 x 13 steel (from which scalpels are made). The covers are made of titanium alloy. The mechanism is isolated, simple, reliable, easy to repair.

The free play and force for the trigger mechanism of the Hunter system is 1-1.5 kg; and for Varmint - 0.5-0.9 kg.

Convenient for the shooter

The Orsis T-5000 rifle, as experts admit, turned out to be convenient for a sniper. The shooter's hand without tension is located on the pistol-type grip; the adjustable buttstock can be easily adjusted to its anthropometry. When transferring the weapon to the stowed state, the butt is retracted to the side and secured with a special magnetic latch. The Picattini bar allows you to use (they will be discussed below).

However, what is the main convenience of the T-5000 for a sniper? In combat properties that allow you to effectively perform complex combat missions. She has surprisingly verified mechanics and, accordingly, achieved remarkable accuracy characteristics. Glass-bedding technology compensates for the significant torque effect from the passage of the bullet, the force acting on the screws that attach the barrel to the stock, and the recoil force. Thanks to a special epoxy bed under the bolt group (which, in fact, is called "glass-bedding"), its reliable adherence to the bed is ensured and, as a result, over time, the sight does not go astray.

The rifle is ergonomic, provides an insignificant level of recoil and, which is important, besides, after a shot, the sight remains on the target. The latter is important to see the result of the shooting, because the rate of fire (20 rounds per minute) allows you to make an additional shot to kill.

Construction and performance characteristics

The constructive basis for the creation of the T 5000 rifle is classified as a multi-shot bolt group equipped with two front lugs. It is equipped with a sliding bolt, stainless steel barrel and trigger. The metal parts of the weapon are matte, wear-resistant coating, blued (Cerakote), developed by NIK-Industries.

The aluminum alloy is used for making the T-5000 stock. The high-precision sniper rifle is equipped with a 12 by 56 series sight in a steel case with a multi-layer lens coating and water protection. Its features are 12x magnification and a 56mm lens diameter.

Rifle tests

What did the official presentation of the newly created T 5000 show? The high-precision sniper rifle for the first time officially demonstrated its combat properties in the fall of 2011 at the VIII International Armament Exhibition in Nizhny Tagil. The demonstration was carried out by Dmitry Semizorov, a specialist in sniper shooting, recognized in Russia and in the world. The targets were located at the boundaries of 540, 300 and 100 meters.

The test shooting results were more than successful. The center of the shooting coincided strictly with the center of the target. This was facilitated by the design features introduced by the specialists of Promtechnologies: an innovative system for positioning the cartridge in the firing mechanism and deliberately accurate balancing of the rifle, which led to the fact that the recoil occurs strictly horizontally, without taking the sight away from the target. The bullet leaving the sighting line at a distance of 100 m, like that of the German DSR-1 rifle, was only a few millimeters. It is not surprising that the Orsis T 5000, presented so effectively, received positive reviews, and the Russian anti-terrorist and special power units immediately wished to adopt it.

Output

In June 2012, at the World Sniper Shooting Championship in Hungary, the first place was taken by the Russian "Alpha", performing with domestic sniper rifles "Orsis" T 5000. Since the same year, these weapons began to enter service with anti-terrorist and special power units. In addition, it is manufactured and sold.

Does it have any disadvantages? For a long time we tried to find them on the Internet. To be honest, it didn't work out. Only two wishes to the designers were striking. First: modify the cutoff between the "current" cartridge, ie. filed into the chamber, and following it. Second (it is subjective): to increase the capacity of the store.

With the creation of the Orsis T-5000 sniper rifle, the Russian arms company Promtechnologii has made a qualitative transition. This weapon is more military than sporting and hunting. The modernized version of the Orsis SE T-5000 M is already entering service with the special units of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The Orsis T-5000 sniper rifle was created on the basis of a sports model. The same remains the long thick-walled stainless steel barrel with a four-chamber muzzle brake and a trigger. The lodge has been radically changed. It is made of aluminum alloy, folding stock.

The modified model Orsis SE T-5000 M differs from its predecessor in a perforated barrel shroud, on which additional Picatinny rails for tactical accessories are placed, as well as a bolt stem with spiral flutes. The shape of the butt has been slightly changed.

Advantages and disadvantages

Thanks to the precision barrel manufacturing technology, the rifle has excellent ballistic and shooting qualities. In terms of this indicator, it surpasses the Austrian-made SSG-8 rifles and the SV-98 rifles manufactured at IzhMash. Sighting range of 1.5 thousand meters.
A four-chamber muzzle brake is installed on the barrel, which significantly reduces recoil when fired.
The rifle has good ergonomics, it is convenient for shooting from bipods and other types of stops. The folding stock makes it compact and easy to transport. The stock is equipped with a height-adjustable shock-absorbing butt pad and cushion comb, as well as a retractable bottom stop.
Metal parts are protected with Cerakote® ceramic coating.
A powerful bolt stem and two lugs securely lock the bore. Spiral flutes reduce the area of contact with the receiver, so the movement of the bolt is light, smooth and quiet. Their direction is such that they push dirt out of the receiver, helping to increase the reliability of the weapon.
The long Picatinny rail allows you to optimally adjust the telescopic sight.
The store is single-row, it is not very convenient to equip it.

The rifle is heavy and inconvenient for running hunts. But it is an excellent tool for hitting targets at long distances.

Design

The barrel of the rifle is console, thick-walled, with flutes and a four-chamber muzzle brake-compensator. Made of stainless steel, the grooves are obtained by a mandrel method.

The receiver is cylindrical, milled from a steel blank. The connection with the barrel is one-piece.
Bolt shutter, rotating. The handle is attached to the stem with screws. Larva with two lugs. Stem with spiral flutes, on it there are two holes for the discharge of escaping gases.
Trigger with adjustable trigger pull. The manufacturer offers two design options: Varmint with a force from 0.5 to 0.9 kg or Hunter - from 0.9 to 1.5 kg.
The fuse is three-position, the flag is located on the butt plate of the bolt striker. The "forward all the way" position, at which the red dot opens, allows the striker to be cocked when the shutter is moved and to fire. The extreme rear position of the flag blocks the sear, the drummer and the bolt stem. Intermediate - drummer and sear, it is used when equipping the store and incomplete disassembly of the rifle.
In the cocked state, the striker shank protrudes 3 mm from the butt plate of the striker, it has a red ring mark on it.
The shutter release button is located on the left side of the receiver, near its butt pad.
Aluminum alloy stock, folding stock. The hinge is made of structural steel. On the butt there are a height-adjustable butt pad, a cushion (comb) and a lower sliding stop.
The handle of the box is plastic, set almost vertically. On the fore-end, in front of the store bunker, a plastic strip with corrugation is made.
The breech of the barrel is protected by a perforated metal casing, on the side surfaces of which Picatinny rails for tactical accessories are fixed.
The telescopic bipod is attached to the front end of the forearm. They can be removed.
For the installation of optical sights, a long Picatinny rail is installed, extending from the butt plate of the receiver to the front edge of the perforated barrel casing.
The store is single-row, removable. The latch lever is located on the front branch of the trigger guard.

Operating principle

The operating mechanism of the rifle is generally the same as that of all bolt-action carbines..

When the safety catch is in the “fire” position (all the way forward, the red dot is open), the bolt handle can be raised and the stem pulled back.
If there was a sleeve or cartridge in the breech of the barrel, they are removed by the larva's extractor tooth and removed through the receiver window when in contact with the reflector protrusion.
During the reverse movement, the cartridge is removed from the magazine by the protrusion of the larva and fed into the chamber.
The cocking of the striker occurs at the last millimeters of the stroke and when the handle is lowered. This is indicated by a red annular mark on the shank of the striker, which protrudes 3 mm from the butt plate of the striker.
Before equipping the magazine, the rifle is put on the safety catch - the intermediate position of the flag. The magazine is removed from the hopper by pressing the latch lever built into the front branch of the trigger guard. The cartridges are stacked in one row.
During transportation, the rifle is deactivated, for which the fuse box is shifted all the way back. As a result, the drummer, sear and bolt stem are blocked.
The change in stroke length and trigger force is made through a longitudinal groove in the trigger guard. The adjusting screw is located at the base of the hook, at the front. It is covered with red lacquer.

Disassembly

Incomplete disassembly is required to clean the rifle. It consists in removing the shutter and magazine.

Place the safety catch in an intermediate position.
Remove the store.
Open the bolt, take the stem back, make sure that there is no cartridge or sleeve in the breech.
Press the lever on the left, at the butt plate of the receiver.
Remove the shutter.

Tuning

It is possible to install tactical accessories - night vision scopes, laser designators on the side strips of the perforated barrel casing.

The ORSIS T-5000 rifle is a high-precision sniper magazine rifle with a sliding bolt, manufactured by the ORSIS arms plant of the Moscow industrial group Promtechnologii. Currently, ORSIS SE T-5000 is used by special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

The ORSIS SE T-5000 rifle was created for universal use - hunting and sports, the task was to achieve ambitious goals: to provide exceptional shooting accuracy, a high level of comfort of the shooter in the process of preparing a shot, in the phase of a shot and recoil and a quick return of the rifle to the aiming line, high reliability and ergonomics, including transport. Each of these tasks is subdivided into sub-tasks, and some are in conflict with each other, however, as a result of the joint efforts of shooters and designers, it was possible to create a product with very high performance. At the beginning of June 2012, the command of Directorate A of the Central Security Service of the FSB won the international competition of police and army snipers (Police & military sniper world cup) using T-5000 rifles from ORSIS.

Technologies

A rifle is geometry, the more accurate all the components of the rifle and the quality of the final assembly, the higher the accuracy and controllability of the weapon in the process of firing. The barrel was obtained by the method of trellis planing on CNC machines, today this is the most accurate method for obtaining rifle barrels, which allows obtaining a barrel with a deviation from the reference caliber of no more than 2 microns, the chamber unfolds with an axial runout relative to the barrel bore of no more than 2 microns, the body of the bolt group is obtained maraging stainless steel, and the center hole is machined with a CNC EDM machine. Many elements are finished hardened to ensure maximum geometric accuracy. All steel parts of ORSIS T-5000 are made of stainless steel only. Special care in manufacturing and the choice of quality materials allows us to speak of an increased service life compared to traditional estimates for these calibers.

ORSIS T-5000 design

The ORSIS T-5000 CE rifle has a sliding bolt with two lugs. The trigger mechanism is made of stainless steel. All the main parameters of the trigger are adjustable. USM is produced in two versions: "Hunter" - allows you to adjust the free travel and force from 1000 to 1500 g and "Varmint" - allows you to adjust the free travel and force from 500 to 900 g. The presence of an intermediate recoil paw allows one to solve another important problem of "cold separation", mutual lapping of the recoil paw, the end of the bolt group body and the end of the barrel allows to obtain maximum mutual adhesion, which makes it possible to get a group of shots around the first hole.

The stock of the ORSIS T-5000 rifle is made of D16T aluminum alloy, the folding unit is made of hardened steel and is specially designed so as not to "break" during operation in the hardest recoil calibers, the plastic parts are made from the most high-strength plastics, all connections are only “Steel into steel”, for this purpose steel parts are specially installed in the box. The stock is equipped with an adjustable cheek piece and butt pad. Butt pad made of special wear-resistant rubber with height adjustment. The stock in the folded position is securely held by a mechanical lock. The bottom and side sling swivels are installed on the stock for attaching a tactical belt and bipod.
