Eagle Nest. Eagle's Nest - Expedition - Klondike: The Lost Expedition How to load a Klondike telegraph pole into a sled

First of all, tourists come here to admire the beauty of the Bavarian Alps and, along the way, learn the details from the history of the creation of this alpine house. When you climb a dizzying serpentine to a height of 1830 meters, passing amazingly beautiful landscapes and landscapes, it seems that there is no more beautiful place on the planet. However, Eva Braun, having spent more than one year among this beauty during the reign of Hitler almost completely alone, did not think so.

Today, the "Eagle's Nest" on the Kehlsteinhaus mountain in the Bavarian Alps is one of the five most popular and visited excursions in Germany. But the Fuhrer himself did not like this place and came here reluctantly, preferring his bunker. It is said that he was afraid of heights and felt uncomfortable here. During the entire period of his reign, he was here ten times, and then at the insistence of friends in the party. The main inhabitant of the "Eagle's Nest" was Eva Braun. She admired the surroundings and, in sunny weather, sunbathed in a sun lounger under the open sky. And this eccentric woman was in this picturesque place also not of her own free will. Historians claim that the Fuhrer “imprisoned” her here so that she would not interfere with him making history.

Fuhrer's Tea House

The name "Eagle's Nest" was given to this residence by the British already at the end of the war, when they tried to bomb it. But the accuracy of British bombing left much to be desired, and the house survived. They also say that this building, as a strategic object, was of no interest to the Allied troops, and the bombing was quickly stopped.

The real name of this residence is the Tea House. In fact, this is a high-mountainous luxury villa, designed for a short rest after the labors of the "righteous" and the meeting of various delegations. Brothers of the same party, or rather Bormann, presented it to the Fuhrer for his fiftieth birthday. True, the construction was carried out with the money of the party and the gift was not cheap. It was built by ordinary German hard workers, using the most advanced technologies of that time. For example, an electric elevator, accommodating two dozen passengers and finished with bronze inside, is located in a rock in a shaft 100 meters high. A 124 m long tunnel leads to the elevator, also cut into the rock and at the same time serving as a bomb shelter. The architect Roderich Fuk, at the direction of Bormann, built this complex in just 13 months, and in 1938 it was commissioned on a turnkey basis. The most difficult was the construction of the road, along which multi-ton blocks were delivered to the place where the house was built.

Thus, to get to the "Eagle's Nest", which is located on the Kehlsteinhaus mountain with a height of 1830 m, you need to drive along a single-lane six-kilometer serpentine with a height difference of 700 meters through 5 tunnels, then go through a gloomy tunnel in the rock for another hundred meters on foot and already on the elevator climb another 124 meters to the house itself.

There is nothing special inside. Along the walls of the veranda are photos of the construction of the Tea House and some of its guests. Almost no furniture. The largest hall now houses a restaurant called the Kehlsteinhaus and a small souvenir shop. Tourists, having risen here by elevator through the mine, mainly walk around the territory in the open air and admire the stunning landscapes of the Bavarian Alps. From the house itself, along the rock where it is located, a path leads to a higher level. The length of the path is 100 meters, on both sides there is a steep cliff. And that's it. A normal person, in the place of Eva Braun, would go crazy here from boredom, because apart from admiring the view of the snow-capped Alps and the Königssee lake, there is nothing much to do here.

Tourists in the "Eagle's Nest" actively climb the mountains and rocks around the house, take a lot of pictures and loudly admire the stunning views. Some of them are unlucky. This happens when the weather is cloudy. In this case, the clouds obscure all views. Therefore, when going to the Eagle's Nest, take an interest in the weather for the next few hours in advance. By the way, in winter this place is also open to the public, but very often the serpentine is closed for buses due to icing on the road.

Eagle's Nest - Expedition

Distance from the station is 190 km.
The next point of our trip is the Eagle's Nest. In order to overcome the distance, we will need the Light Wind sleigh, which can be made in the windmill on the Song of the Wind from ordinary small sledges. In the eagle our main task is to find huge oak tree with a nest, in the hollow of which we will store supplies and produce the materials we need, including a canister of kerosene, which we will need for a trip to Ukhty. The oak tree is in the upper left corner of the map. It is very difficult to get to it, as the road is blocked by large stones and trees. But you can find a way!
The Eagle's Nest is extremely ornate wood, stone and wild flax that grows on the island. There are also several thoroughbred cows walking on the island, which will come out of the wilds when you clear the island a little. From bird nests that fall from trees as they are cut down fish, which, apparently, was prepared for future use by eagles =) A large number of chests, barrels and boxes, in which not only collection items are hidden, but also factory materials like tiles, iron, bricks and ropes are lying around in a mess. Load the sled with them and transport them to the station.

Travel equipment

To go to the location, we need some inventory.

Construction stages

Once you have found a huge oak tree, start building it. To do this, you will have to make several flights and bring all the necessary materials. Arriving at the location, click on the building and count all the materials brought. They will lie safe and sound under the tree until you bring the next batch of material. To build you will need a total of:

materials

We need the building not only for storing things, but also for the production of some necessary materials. From improvised means in the Eagle's Nest you can make Eagle Sleigh, as well as:

Quests

After you build the Eagle's Nest, you will open a series of tasks that you will need to complete in order to move further through the locations.

The high altitude position, however, makes the road to the Eagle's Nest dangerous and inconvenient, and in winter the Arryns leave the castle completely uninhabited, moving to the Moon Gate at the foot of the mountain.

Geographical position

The white-walled castle of Eagle's Nest is built on the side of a high mountain called the Giant's Spear in the Moon Mountains of the Vale of Arryn. The castle is north of King's Landing, northeast of Riverrun, and southeast of Moat Cailin.

Description

The nest is the residence of the Arryn house for spring, summer and autumn. In winter they descend into the ancient Moongate, for ice, snow, and howling winds make the paths impassable and the castle uninhabitable, but in summer the Nest is bathed in a cool and crisp mountain breeze, making it a welcome refuge from the heat that prevails in the valley below. There was no other such castle in the entire world, or at least no record of it has survived. The location of the castle makes it almost impregnable. An enemy intent on capturing the Eagle's Nest would have to overcome a long climb under a hail of stones and arrows, as well as under wind and snow. There are no stables, forges and kennels in the castle itself (they are located in castles along the path), but its granaries are spacious, and five hundred men-at-arms can be accommodated in the towers.

In order to reach the castle, the invaders will have to overcome the Blood Gate guarding the main road, then overcome the Lunar Gate Castle located at the foot of the Giant's Spear, from which the ascent of the steps cut into the mountainside begins. The stairs are too steep and narrow for horses, so they climb on mules. It takes one day to climb from the foot of the peak to the Nest. The stone path is guarded by three castles: Stone, Snow and Heavenly .

History

Valley Kings

Eagle's Nest in the HBO television series

The Eagle's Nest was not the original domain of House Arryn. That honor belongs to Moongate, a much larger castle that stands at the foot of the Giant's Spear on the very spot where Ser Artis Arryn and his Andals camped the night before the Battle of the Seven Stars. Unsteady on the throne in the early years of his reign, the king desired his residence to be a place strong enough to withstand siege and assault should the First Men ever rise up against him. It was not until the fourth king, Arryn, grandson of Artis, that the process began that led to the construction of the Eagle's Nest. Roland Arryn traveled to Oldtown and Lannisport before returning to the Vale after his father's death and donning the falcon crown.

conquest

Taking advantage of the situation, the Three Sisters revolted and declared themselves independent. However, Aegon ordered the rebellion to be crushed, Steffon Sunderland bowed his knee, and gave one of his sons as a hostage to the Nest.

After John was poisoned, his wife fled the capital, taking her son Robert with her to the family nest. Shutting herself in the castle, Lysa Arryn rejected her sister Catelyn Stark's pleas for help and essentially refused to intervene in the unfolding War of the Five Kings. When Catelyn brought Tyrion Lannister, captured by her, Lisa accused Bes of being involved in the murder of her husband and was about to be executed, but he demanded a trial by combat. Before that, the lady locked him in one of their celestial chambers, but the dwarf managed to escape death, since the mercenary Bronn, who married him, won and killed the captain of the Arryn home guard, Ser Vardis Igen.

The transfer situation

The English word "Eyrie" (= aerie) translates as "bird of prey's nest". Considering that the coat of arms of the house of Arryn depicts a falcon, not an eagle, the name of the castle should be translated as "Falcon's Nest". This unfortunate error was not corrected by AST.

Quotes

Catelyn looked up at the sky, up, up, up. At first, only trees and rocks floated before her eyes, the colossal carcass of a huge mountain, hiding in a night as black as a starless sky. And then she noticed those distant lights above - a tower rising from a steep slope; the windows looked out from above with orange eyes. Above it was visible the second, higher and more distant, even higher loomed the third - a flickering spark in the sky. Well, at the top, where the eagles were circling, the moonlight illuminated the white walls. Her head swam involuntarily, so high were those pale towers.
"Truly an Eagle's Nest," she heard Marillion's shocked whisper. Game of Thrones, Catelyn VI
