Paracord dog collar. How to make it yourself (master class with photos). DIY dog collars: detailed instructions with photos How to make a collar from a belt

Let's look at a simple way to weave a collar from regular cord. Skill in weaving a collar and making a medallion will help reduce one of the expenses for maintaining a four-legged friend. Using the proposed technique, you can weave other interesting things such as a belt, bracelet, and collar. So let's get to work. First, measure the neck circumference of your favorite dog or cat - we will start from this size. Add another centimeter and a half to the resulting figure - this is necessary so that the animal feels comfortable in the collar, and it does not rub or press in any way. Choose the best option based on the fact that the collar should not be removed over the head (so that if the pet pulls the leash, it will not slip out of the collar), but also should not put pressure on the neck. To weave a collar 22 centimeters long, I needed 3 meters of lace (sold in any fabric and accessories store, of various thicknesses and colors).

Take extra lace. It is better to trim off the excess than to be upset later that it was not enough for the required length of the collar.

We take a clasp from an old collar or backpack and a long cord. It’s better to buy with a reserve, so that when you finish weaving you won’t be upset that a few centimeters were missing. Fold the lace in half. We insert the resulting loop into the fastener, insert the free ends into it and tighten it.

Next, mark the required collar size on the lace, thread the medallion and pull the second part of the fastener to the mark. Now let’s remember the classic method of braiding a braid - we repeat practically the same thing, but we do not use the central double cord (our knots will be tied on it).

We form a loop from the rightmost lace, and bring its end behind the central double lace. We insert the leftmost lace into the loop of the right one, then tighten both ends. We repeat the entire process of tightening the knots, only alternating loops.

We bend the leftmost lace into a loop, bringing its end behind the central double lace. We insert the right end of the lace into the loop of the left lace, as shown in the photographs. We tighten both ends. So we alternate knot by knot, weaving until the clasp.

The even pattern ensures all knots are pulled tight, so don't lose sight of that. Having reached the end of the weaving, we thread the lace through the clasp and tie a knot. If desired, you can make a loop for the leash. To do this, you need to make another knot and cut the lace.

Paracord dog collar. How to make it yourself (master class with photos)

Nowadays, products in the style of “ hand-made" are very popular. Firstly, it is a way to show your creativity. Secondly, you receive and become its sole owner. And, thirdly, when making such a thing, not only the work of the master, but also a piece of the soul is invested into it. All these three aspects are very suitable for a dog owner :) Your pet will wear a functional item, charged with a piece of your warmth, and at the same time, you will not find another like it.

We will do collar for dogs from paracord.

Paracord is a lightweight polymer rope made from nylon, which was intended for use in parachute lines.The shell of paracord is woven from many interwoven fibers, making it relatively smooth. Paracord, made entirely of nylon, is quite elastic. It is also possible to make paracord from polyester.

Nowadays, the use of paracord cord is very diverse. Products woven from such material are strong and durable. Simple paracord collar do with your own hands not difficult. To make it we will need: paracord cord (two colors) and accessories for the collar.

So let's start weaving DIY dog collar (photo and step-by-step instructions)

Step one

We measure the required length of the cord.

It is impossible to guess the length exactly, down to a centimeter. It depends on the thickness of the cord and the density of the weaving, but the calculation is something like this: multiply the length of the collar by seven. (it’s better to take extra and cut off the excess at the end)

Step two

We make the basis for weaving. Between the two parts of the fastener there should be a distance equal to the length of our collar.

We attach the cord to one of the parts of the collar clasp, as shown in the initial fastening diagram below. Then, simply thread it through the second part of the lock and return it to the original fastening. We pass the ends through the first part of the collar lock. At the output we will have four cords. Cut one cord of each color.

We begin to intertwine the two remaining cords, as in the photo

(Initial fastening diagram)

The cord needs to be folded in half, the resulting loop should be placed on the base, the loop should be folded over the base, and the ends should be threaded into the loop and tightened

Step three

We add a leash ring to our future collar. To make the weave tight, tighten the knots tightly.

Step four

We continue weaving the cord until the end of the product

Step five

We secure the ends of the cord.

You can fasten the ends according to this scheme

Cut off the excess. We singe the ends with a lighter and press them at the melting point. This way the ends will be better secured.

This is what happened.

According to principle collar master class, for dogs You can also weave a leash. You will get a set 🙂 The variety of cord and weaving methods increases the boundaries of possibilities.

Your paracord dog collar it will turn out a little different, because this is only an approximate diagram, how to do it yourself, and one master class with photos, does not accommodate all weaving options.

Today there is a fairly wide range of stylish “accessories” and collars for pets on sale: different sizes, different in material and shape, simple and with decorative inserts. But sometimes you want something unusual and original. Why not? Making a collar for a dog with your own hands will not be difficult if you know the basic subtleties of this process.

First of all, you need to decide on the right size. To do this, take an ordinary tailor's meter, measure the diameter of the dog's neck and be sure to write down the result on a piece of paper so as not to “go astray” by mistake. To the resulting figure, add a couple of centimeters for seams and fasteners. The main thing is that the dog collar should not fit tightly. You can use the “sample” of the old collar to guide you.

As decoration, you can use beautiful fabric, multi-colored paper bows, bright buttons, a sling made of elastic bands or beads - here you are free to use your imagination as you wish. To dress up your beloved pet, you need to decide for what purposes the collar and leash will be used. By area of application, the following types are distinguished:

  1. Walking is the most popular version of “ammunition”, which is additionally equipped with a half-ring to quickly fasten a leash for a dog, and can be equipped with LED lighting.
  2. Training – special “ties” for pets, which have a comfortable handle to hold the animal during training.
  3. A guard collar is a high-strength collar, which is usually made of a belt or thick leather.
  4. Choke - usually used to present a pet at exhibitions and can be made of different materials (synthetics, leather or metal chain).

Particularly popular today is a luminous pet collar, which is simply indispensable for evening walks. If the dog lags behind or runs far ahead, you will always see the place of its “dislocation”. Such a collar is also a warning to random passers-by, because it can be noticed from afar. Are you interested in how to make a glowing collar? At the moment, with the development of LED technology, it is easier to purchase it ready-made, for example, on AliExpress.

Materials and accessories

As practice shows, the most durable and wear-resistant accessories for dogs are collars made of a belt or nylon tape. For the pet’s comfort, it is recommended to make an additional lining on the inside - any soft fabric will do. As an option, you can make a dog collar from a textile sling that can withstand heavy loads and does not “lose” in the rain.

Nylon Ribbon Collar

To make a stylish “tie” for your pet yourself, you don’t need to be a fashion designer, the main thing is desire. For homemade creativity you will need the following materials:

  • nylon sling;
  • regular or colored tape;
  • plastic retainer;
  • buckle with two slots;
  • half ring for leash.

Sew a strip no more than 25mm wide to the nylon webbing. To do this, use strong thread and a needle or a sewing machine. The second option is more practical. The tape will need to be sewn along the entire length, as well as along the edges. Doing this manually will take more time.

Next you will need to unfasten the plastic fastener (fastener) and thread the end of the sling. The edge of the tape should not protrude too much - just leave 40-50 mm. Fold the end over and connect it with nylon tape so that the edges match. Then all that remains is to sew it with threads. It is advisable to sew stitches in 2 rows. Pass the free edge through the half-ring (letter D), moving it closer to the plastic retainer if possible, and pass the threads across the sling.

At the final stage, you need to thread the free end of the sling through the buckle and the second part of the fastener - the trident, which has not yet been sewn to the collar. Next, you will need to install the buckle, to do this, bend the edge of the sling and make a couple of transverse seams. Now you know how to make a collar for a dog on your own, using available materials. You can also make an original braided leash from rubber bands.

The choice of collars for pets is almost unlimited: any sizes, materials, colors, shapes and decor options. But sometimes you really want something special! Why not? Making dog collars with your own hands is not at all difficult if you know the principle of assembling individual parts of simple equipment. But you can decorate the ribbon to your liking - colorful fabric, bows, inscriptions, bright buttons, beads. Imagine!

Of course, you should start by determining the size: take a tailor's meter, draw it around the pet's neck and write down the result. Don't forget to add a few centimeters to the seams and fastenings. And remember that the collar should sit somewhat loosely. Don't have a meter? No problem, we use the old collar to guide us.

Materials and accessories

The most wear-resistant and safe collars are made from nylon tape. A textile sling is ideal - a very durable material designed for high loads, temperature changes, high humidity, friction, etc. From similar materials I sew tourist and construction unloading belts, straps for backpacks and handles of travel bags. Since we are going to sew a dog collar to our own taste, you can choose any color or decorate the ribbon with velvet, water-repellent or reflective fabric, textile ribbon with a pattern - in general, hide the base under the decorating material. Simply attach the outer layer to the nylon and stitch on both sides (or in the middle, maybe crosswise if the collar is wide, for a large dog). To make your pet more comfortable, you can also make an internal lining (fleece or any other soft fabric that reduces friction). Collar base:

Before making a collar for your dog, you need to decide not only the length, but also the width of the ribbon. If the collar is too wide, the pet will be uncomfortable; if it is too narrow, it will be painful, as the strap will cut into the delicate skin of the neck. When choosing the width of the belt, it is advisable to start from the width of the fastex - the latch that fastens the edges of the collar. By the way, you shouldn’t save money on buying fastex, because the safety of your pet depends on the reliability of the latch:

To attach the carabiner to the leash, a half ring like this is used. Make sure that the soldering area is secure, without a wide gap. The ring itself must be made of durable metal that cannot be bent by hand. Small D-rings for straps, lanyards and jewelry are not suitable, as it is important to make the dog's collar as strong as possible. And the thin rings designed to support the bra simply cannot withstand the tug (even if the pet is the size of a cat).

If you want the length of the collar to be adjustable (what if your pet gains a couple of extra pounds?), you will need a double-slit buckle. To fasten it correctly, take the ribbon in your right hand, the buckle in your left, pass the free edge of the ribbon into the first hole of the buckle from below, trace the diameter and pass the ribbon into the second hole, down. Now all that remains is to thread the free edge of the tape into the fastex trident, make a downward bend and from below once again pass the tape along the top of the buckle diameter towards the fastex. In general, such explanations only confuse. It’s easier to take an old collar, bra or handbag and see how a simple design is made that allows you to adjust the length (straps, handles, belt, etc.). Actually, the buckle:

And also scissors, a sewing machine, strong threads and various decorations if desired - that’s all you need to assemble a beautiful and, of course, exclusive dog collar with your own hands in about twenty minutes. The procedure is simple:

  • if the collar should have an inscription, decorative stitching, an additional layer of material, etc., first we sew and embroider the beauty along the entire length of the ribbon. But beads, flower bows and other voluminous decorations are sewn and glued at the very end;
  • we take the fastex in our hands and divide it into two halves (the trident and the other, the so-called “female” part);
  • We pass one of the edges of the tape through the trident and bend it down. Sew firmly in two places across the tape (almost at the latch itself and after about one or two centimeters, and crosswise in the middle);

Don’t forget to attach a buckle before the fastex to regulate the length of the collar, if necessary.

  • take another part of the fastex and the other edge of the tape. We also thread the ribbon and pull it through the fastex slot, measuring the required length so that there is room left for attaching the ring. So, we threaded the ribbon, folded it, made a transverse stitch - the fastex is secured. We step back a little from the edge (depending on the size of the dog) and make another line across the tape;
  • We put the ring for the carabiner on the tape, drag it all the way to the line. We apply the bottom edge of the tape to the outer one, and again, but now behind the ring, we make a line. The ring turned out to be firmly sewn into the collar strap. To increase reliability, behind the ring we make several additional neat stitches across the tape or crosswise.

A DIY collar is an excellent and inexpensive alternative to a store-bought one. We offer you several step-by-step lessons on how to create one from nylon sling, leather and woven cord.

Nylon Ribbon Collar

You will need:
nylon sling (2.5 cm wide);
ribbon with a pattern (2.5 cm wide);
plastic fastex fastener (2.5 cm);
plastic double-slit buckle (2.5 cm);
half ring (2.5 cm);
threads
Tip: for a puppy, small dog or cat, you can use the above 1.25 cm wide materials. To determine the circumference of the future collar, simply measure the circumference of the animal’s neck and multiply the resulting figure by 1.75.
1: Sew colored ribbon to the webbing. To do this, set the sewing machine to sew coarse fabric and set the stitch length to 2 mm. To ensure that the seam is as close to the edge as possible, place the needle on the right side. Sew the ribbon along the entire length on the right and left, as well as across the edges.

2: clasp attachment
Unfasten the clasp and thread one end of the sling through it. In this case, the end of the tape should be approximately 4-5 cm long. Then fold the end over and sew it to the ribbon, stitching in several rows. Then thread the free end of the ribbon through the half-ring, slide it as close to the clasp as possible, and stitch again across the webbing to secure the half-ring.

3: Take the free end of the sling again and thread it through the plastic double-slot buckle, then through the second, not yet sewn, part of the fastener. After this, thread the sling through the buckle again, making a second loop under the first (see picture).

Take the end of the sling, bend it back and sew across it several times, thus securing the double-slit buckle. To make sewing easier, move the clasp back. Congratulations, you've finished!

And if your pet lives at home, then pay attention to an interesting and accessible manual: how to make a house for a dog (with patterns and photographs). Lesson No. 2: braided collar
You will need:
nylon cord;
plastic carabiner;
lighter;
scissors;
small key ring;
centimeter;
masking tape.
Fold the cord in half and thread it through the carabiner. Make a loop, pull the two loose ends of the cord through it and tighten. Take the collar you have and measure its circumference (or measure the length using a centimeter).

Measure the length of the cord equal to the circumference of the collar, and thread the two free ends through the second part of the carabiner, securing it with masking tape at the required distance (it is best to glue the carabiner to the table - this will make it easier for you to weave).
Begin weaving the collar following the instructions shown in the pictures.

Take the left lace and pass it under the two laces stretched between the two parts of the carabiner. Take the right lace, pull it under the left, over the two laces, and then through the loop created by the left lace. Tighten the knot. Then pass the right lace under the two taut laces. Then take the left lace, pull it under the right, over the two laces, and then through the loop created by the right lace. Tighten the knot again.

After you have woven the collar to the end, cut off the excess ends of the lace and burn them so that they do not unravel. Don't forget to thread the key ring to which you will later attach the leash, a tag with the dog's name and your phone number.

Master class No. 3: Leather collar
You will need:
a piece of leather;
knives for leather processing;
buckle and half ring;
awl;
decorative rivets.
We recommend using latigo leather for the collar - it is very durable and does not deteriorate under the influence of dirt and water, maintaining not only its qualities, but also its appearance.
1: Using a special knife, cut a piece of leather to the required width. To determine the required length, measure the circumference of your dog's neck and add another 25 cm. If necessary, you can always cut off an extra piece. On both ends of the leather strap, cut off the corners to create a finished look.

2: Use a bevel knife to trim the corners along the entire length of the collar. Repeat on both sides. Thanks to this, the leather collar will not chafe. Use a color-matched water-based leather glue to seal the edges.

Tip: lubricate the collar with a special leather cream, gently rubbing it in with your hands. Then apply a layer of beeswax and remove any excess with a soft towel.
3: Using the template, use an awl to mark the locations where the holes will be located for attaching metal decorations. Use a paring knife to remove some of the leather from the underside. This will make the collar lighter and softer.

4: Using awls of various diameters, make holes in the marked places - for decorations and for attaching the buckle tongue. At the same time, do not forget to add another piece of leather so as not to spoil the surface of the table. Use a scalpel to make a hole for attaching the buckle.

5: Thread the end of the collar through the buckle, bend it over and secure it. Then put on the half ring and fasten the free end of the leather strap. Decorate the collar with decorative rivets.
