Cell phone explay sky plus. Who is a Sysadmin? Calls and messages

General characteristics

Type

Deciding on the type of device (phone or smartphone?) is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to choose a telephone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly less than that of a regular phone.

Sysadmin(he's on English language sysadmin, system administrator) - an abbreviated name of a profession, the full name of which in Russian sounds like System Administrator. This profession in Lately has become very popular for most young and not so young people, they teach it, they work on it, they get good money for it. This is due to the rapid development of various computer technology and their penetration into all spheres of human life. The word system administrator is often used in colloquial speech, in vacancies and resumes when searching for a job, in a word - everywhere. Below we will talk about what the profession of a system administrator is.

In modern realities, a system administrator can be called virtually any person who is involved in servicing and maintaining the operation of a specific computer network, including all its hardware and/or software components, which may include:

  • Personal computers, both workstations and servers;
  • Network equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls and more;
  • Web servers, mail servers, database servers, and others.

Also, in certain cases, the system administrator may be responsible for ensuring proper information security.

Depending on his specialization, a system administrator may be involved in the following types activities:

  • An administrator of workstations and servers most often repairs both hardware (failed motherboards, burnt-out power supplies) and software (Windows won’t load, commas won’t print in Word...).
  • Domain-based corporate network administrator Active Directory. A very popular activity, given the prevalence of operating rooms Windows systems, as well as the need to somehow centrally control them. Such a specialist must be able to create, distribute into groups, edit users, give them the appropriate rights in the AD domain, and also be able to manage group policies for users, their computers and the groups to which they are all members.
  • Administration of networks and network equipment. His responsibilities include knowledge of network topology, the ability to work with both non-configurable and customizable network equipment, planning a local computer network, as well as the ability to combine several remote workstations into one network by setting up NATs and VPNs "ov. You should also not forget to control access within this network and outside it - setting up a proxy.
  • A web server administrator, who must at least be able to install, configure and maintain one of the following web servers - Apache, IIS, Nginx, and monitor hosting (which can be located both within the organization’s network and outside it). In addition, a good administrator should be able to configure normal resource distribution under high loads, clustering and many other specific things.
  • Administration of a mail server is also a common task for a system administrator; his tasks include working with such popular solutions as Exim, Microsoft Exchange, Postfix, Sendmail, or corporate mail solutions from Google or, for example, Yandex. In addition to the obvious control over accounts (creation, deletion, configuration), it is also necessary to be able to set up an antispam system, etc.
  • Site administrator. These responsibilities may include simply filling the site with some content, but since we are talking about a system administrator, then in theory he should be able to set up hosting (including a web server, as mentioned above), install and configure the desired site, for example any content management system (CMS).
  • Very rarely, the responsibilities of a system administrator may include the task of creating or maintaining a video surveillance system. The tasks include installing and configuring cameras, responding to various events, saving and playing back recordings. Refers to system administration weakly, and often falls into his duties in conjunction with some other duties.

Left out of the system administrator's occupations described above are such possible things as database administration (Microsoft SQL, MySQL and its multiple branches, Oracle, etc.), 1C administration (not to be confused with “1C programmer”), PBX and much more .

Positioning

Explay has released a simple, but at the same time inexpensive smartphone based on the Google operating system Android versions 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The device's hardware is standard for most similar gadgets: a single-core processor, a chipset from MediaTek, some RAM, a regular 5-megapixel camera with autofocus. However, the new product has an analog TV receiver. In other words: you can watch TV shows on Explay Sky. Well, in order for the TV to show for a long time, the smartphone was equipped with a capacious 2200 mAh battery.

About 5-7 years ago, almost every Chinese device had a TV receiver. I can't say it was a very exciting feature, but it did come in handy sometimes. Nowadays, phones with a “TV” are becoming less and less common, because Mobile Internet It becomes more accessible and with its help it is possible to watch TV via the network, and operators provide similar services with good discounts.

In general, consider the TV receiver in Explay Sky as a bonus, since its presence had virtually no effect on the cost of the smartphone.

Design, dimensions, control elements

The smartphone is a rectangular device with slightly smoothed corners: a regular blank for the manufacture of any “non-name” phones. The dimensions of the Sky are small, but the thickness is somewhat large: dimensions are 126x63.5x12.2 mm, and the weight is 147 grams. The weight here is added by the battery and the metal antenna. In general, the Explay fits well in the hand thanks to the sloping edges and the velvety “soft-touch” coating, which is pleasant to the touch.

The device is made of plastic: the edging is glossy, dark gray, the frame on the front panel and the back cover are black (“soft-touch”). After a month of active use, the device did not creak or play. The cover does not bend down to the battery. Small, shallow scratches appeared on the display, and the back side in the area of the antenna and camera module was slightly rubbed. Fingerprints and other traces remain only on the screen, greasy stains are practically invisible: the main thing is that white coating absent.

The front panel houses the front camera, proximity sensor and earpiece. The sensor responds very quickly, and during the operation of the device no false shutdowns of the screen lock were observed at the time of a call. The speaker has an average volume, a slightly muffled sound (like from a barrel), the interlocutor can be heard relatively clearly and intelligibly, there are no extraneous noises. Overall, I would rate the speaker 3 out of 5.

Below the screen are the traditional touch buttons “Back”, “Home” and calling up the context menu. The backlight is dim, white. The keys are marked with translucent white paint. There is a microphone under the Back button.

There are no keys or connectors on the bottom end, and microUSB and a 3.5 mm audio output on the top. On the left is a volume rocker key almost recessed into the body, on the right, of the same type, is a button to turn the device on/off.

On the back side there is a slightly raised camera module with an LED flash. At the bottom left is a slot where the speaker is hidden. A 200 mm long telescopic antenna extends from the lower left corner.

To open the cover, you need to pry it by the notch on the right top corner. Sim cards (only 2G on top, 2G and 3G on bottom) are located under the battery, there is also a slot for a memory card, i.e. It will not be possible to replace it with a “hot” one.

Display

The Explay Advance device has a 4-inch screen (physical size 53x88 mm), aspect ratio is 16:10. Resolution - 480x800 pixels - is the standard minimum for most middle-class smartphones. With these parameters, the density is 233 pixels per inch. The display matrix is normal – TFT-LCD. It is capable of displaying 16 million shades of color. The sensor is made using capacitive technology and supports multi-touch up to 2 simultaneous touches.

The sensitivity of the touch layer is high, and there were no problems during testing.

Viewing angles are small: when tilted away from you, to the left or to the right, the brightness decreases; When tilted towards you, the colors are sharply inverted. Comparing the matrix of Sky and Advance, it is clear that the latter has a clearly higher quality: richer colors, better color rendition.

If the image behaves perfectly indoors, then, unfortunately, the matrix fades outside. Explay Sky also has a proximity sensor (SN5001) and an accelerometer (RPI-1040).

Display settings contain the following items:

  • Brightness
  • Auto rotate
  • Sleep mode (15 seconds to 30 minutes)
  • Font size (small, regular, large and extra large)
  • Key backlight (auto, on/off)

Battery

A removable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2200 mAh, 3.7V, 8.14 Wh is installed. The manufacturer claims that the phone should last 320 hours in standby mode, and up to 4.5 hours in talk mode. Somehow the vendor gives very modest results.

With a load of 20-30 minutes of calls per day, about 2 hours of listening to music, 3-4 hours of 3G Internet, the battery was discharged in 8-9 hours. Only when playing music the battery lasts a little less than 25 hours, only when watching videos (maximum brightness, maximum volume in headphones, resolution 800x480) - about 5 hours, games - no more than 2 hours.

You can watch TV for about 4 hours at medium brightness and maximum volume.

It will take a little over 3 hours to fully charge the battery from the mains or USB.

Communication capabilities

The phone operates in 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz) cellular networks. In this case, one SIM card functions only in 2G, the other in 2G or 3G. The sensitivity of the receiver is not bad, it consistently shows 3-4 divisions (out of 4), in the worst case - 1-2. If you use mobile Internet, then traffic is limited in the settings - a special feature of Android 4.0.

Available Bluetooth version 4.0 (EDR/A2DP) for file and voice transfer. There were no problems connecting the headsets: it connected quickly, and speech was transmitted relatively clearly. There is a wireless connection Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n. The device, of course, can be used as an access point (Wi-Fi Hotspot) or modem. In the settings, this item is listed as “Modem mode”.

USB 2.0 (High-Speed) is used for file transfer and data synchronization. When connecting the “Explay” to a PC, it is detected as a USB Flash device.

Memory and memory card

The smartphone is equipped with 512 MB of RAM. Currently, this amount is not the largest; naturally, I would like 1 GB, but the device is a budget device, so it’s not worth demanding anything more. On average, about 160 MB is free. But, oddly enough, even with such a quantity the device does not slow down at all.

The specification indicates the amount of Flash memory is 4 GB, but only 900 MB is available for application installations and about 1.5 GB for data storage. Expandable by installing a microSD card, the maximum capacity of which can be 32 GB. By the way, in the memory settings there is a separate item where you can select the location where applications will be installed.

Camera

The Explay Sky smartphone uses two camera modules: a main one with 5 megapixels, and an additional (front) one with 0.3 megapixels. There is automatic focusing and a single-section LED flash. The maximum photo resolution is 2592x1944 pixels, video resolution is 1280x720 pixels at 30 frames per second with autofocus.

The quality of the photos corresponds to the cost of the device, i.e. budget: narrow dynamic range, not very high detail, unnatural color rendition. Videos have the same problems. Compared to models from Fly, they shoot a little better, but not by much.

The front camera has a resolution of 640x480 pixels. The phone works correctly with Skype.

The interface looks exactly the same as in bare Android 4.0.

EXIF information from a photo file

Video file characteristics:

  • Format: 3GP
  • Video codec: MPEG-4 Visual, 12,000 Kbps
  • Resolution: 1280x720, 30 fps
  • Audio codec: AMR, 12.8 Kbps
  • Channels: 1 channel, 8 KHz

Performance

Unlike most modern devices that operate on a dual-core chipset from MediaTek, this device runs on single core MTK6575. The processor (Cortex-A9) “works” at a clock frequency of 1 GHz, produced using 40 nm CMOS technology. PowerVR SGX 531 graphics accelerator from Imagination Technologies.

Like Explay Advance, Sky also has perfectly optimized hardware and software: nothing slows down or freezes. In short, the model is fast. Almost all toys are suitable, except for ones like NOVA3.

Below is a brief technical specifications and performance tests:

Navigation

The smartphone has a GPS navigator. In the settings, you have the right to enable the EPO (Extended Prediction Orbit) mode - one of MediaTek’s innovative proprietary A-GPS technologies based on autonomous servers. It supports satellite orbit predictions for up to 30 days, which can be used to reduce the time required to determine GPS coordinates. “Cold” start – about 5-6 minutes, “hot” – up to 20 seconds. To work with maps, the device has the following programs: “Maps” and “Navigator”.

Calls and messages

This model is equipped with only one radio module. In order not to repeat the description of calls on Explay Sky, since the function is practically no different from the stock Android, I will add that to make a call via SIM1 or SIM2, you need to click on the corresponding icons after dialing the number and pressing send call.

The sound quality is good, as always, the mids and highs mainly predominate, the lows are a little overwhelmed. The volume is high.

The speakerphone produces above-average volume. It does not wheeze when the load increases. If Sky is put back side down, the volume becomes 10-15% lower. If you close it, the volume will drop by 90 percent.

FM radio. The receiver operates at frequencies 87.5 – 107.8 MHz. RDS is supported and broadcast is recorded. To listen to the radio, you must connect headphones. Very strange, considering that the device has an antenna. Most likely, the manufacturer simply put it “naked” Android firmware 4.0 and forgot about the possibility of operating the radio from an external antenna.

TV receiver. To watch TV on your smartphone, you need to extend the antenna and launch the “analog TV” application. The screen displays an indicator of the signal reception level, channel number, and current time. If you click on the display, you will see volume control and channel switching, as well as brightness settings.

In the “Menu”: scanning, region setting, channel list. The quality of signal reception directly depends on the conditions in which the smartphone is used: for example, in a room far from the window you can only count on sound, closer to the window - on sound and a poor image, on the street most of channels are displayed quite tolerably even without an extended antenna.

Video player. The standard player understands 3GP, MP4, AVI, MKV formats with a resolution of no more than 1280x800 pixels and a bitrate of no higher than 10,000 Kbps. Codecs: Xvid, Mpeg4, H264. Moreover, support comes at the hardware level, and not at the software level. If you install MX Video Player or Dice, you will get additional video formats (TS, MOV and others) and audio (DTS, OGG and others).

Conclusion

As you can understand from the review, the smartphone is very simple and stands out among similar devices only by the presence of an analog TV receiver. Whether he is needed or not is a secondary matter. Otherwise, Explay Sky is a typical budget MTK device with an autofocus camera and a capacious battery.

Unfortunately for Explay, there are many competitors. For example, Fly IQ442 costs about 6,000 rubles, but has a cool camera, high-quality IPS screen and dual-core MTK6577; Prestigio 4000 Duo – costs a little less than 6,000 rubles, the hardware is almost the same as the Explay Sky, only the Qualcomm MSM7227a chipset; ZTE V889M – cost 6,500 rubles, the screen is slightly better than in Sky, MTK6577 chipset (dual-core processor); Ritmix RMP-400 – costs up to 6,000 rubles, screen – 4.3 inches, 5 MP camera, MTK6575 chipset; Explay Advance - price just over 6,000 rubles, higher quality matrix than Sky, MTK6575 chipset, 5 MP camera, no TV receiver.

Pros of Explay Sky:

  • Android 4.0
  • TV receiver
  • Capacious battery
  • Autofocus camera
  • Shooting video in HD quality
  • Availability of front camera
  • High-quality assembly and nice materials
