Explay has released a simple, but at the same time inexpensive smartphone based on the Google operating system Android versions 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The device's hardware is standard for most similar gadgets: a single-core processor, a chipset from MediaTek, some RAM, a regular 5-megapixel camera with autofocus. However, the new product has an analog TV receiver. In other words: you can watch TV shows on Explay Sky. Well, in order for the TV to show for a long time, the smartphone was equipped with a capacious 2200 mAh battery.
About 5-7 years ago, almost every Chinese device had a TV receiver. I can't say it was a very exciting feature, but it did come in handy sometimes. Nowadays, phones with a “TV” are becoming less and less common, because Mobile Internet It becomes more accessible and with its help it is possible to watch TV via the network, and operators provide similar services with good discounts.
In general, consider the TV receiver in Explay Sky as a bonus, since its presence had virtually no effect on the cost of the smartphone.
Design, dimensions, control elements
The smartphone is a rectangular device with slightly smoothed corners: a regular blank for the manufacture of any “non-name” phones. The dimensions of the Sky are small, but the thickness is somewhat large: dimensions are 126x63.5x12.2 mm, and the weight is 147 grams. The weight here is added by the battery and the metal antenna. In general, the Explay fits well in the hand thanks to the sloping edges and the velvety “soft-touch” coating, which is pleasant to the touch.
The device is made of plastic: the edging is glossy, dark gray, the frame on the front panel and the back cover are black (“soft-touch”). After a month of active use, the device did not creak or play. The cover does not bend down to the battery. Small, shallow scratches appeared on the display, and the back side in the area of the antenna and camera module was slightly rubbed. Fingerprints and other traces remain only on the screen, greasy stains are practically invisible: the main thing is that white coating absent.
The front panel houses the front camera, proximity sensor and earpiece. The sensor responds very quickly, and during the operation of the device no false shutdowns of the screen lock were observed at the time of a call. The speaker has an average volume, a slightly muffled sound (like from a barrel), the interlocutor can be heard relatively clearly and intelligibly, there are no extraneous noises. Overall, I would rate the speaker 3 out of 5.

The sensor is made using capacitive technology and supports multi-touch up to 2 simultaneous touches.
The sensitivity of the touch layer is high, and there were no problems during testing.
Viewing angles are small: when tilted away from you, to the left or to the right, the brightness decreases; When tilted towards you, the colors are sharply inverted. Comparing the matrix of Sky and Advance, it is clear that the latter has a clearly higher quality: richer colors, better color rendition.
If the image behaves perfectly indoors, then, unfortunately, the matrix fades outside. Explay Sky also has a proximity sensor (SN5001) and an accelerometer (RPI-1040).

A removable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2200 mAh, 3.7V, 8.14 Wh is installed. The manufacturer claims that the phone should last 320 hours in standby mode, and up to 4.5 hours in talk mode. Somehow the vendor gives very modest results.
With a load of 20-30 minutes of calls per day, about 2 hours of listening to music, 3-4 hours of 3G Internet, the battery was discharged in 8-9 hours. Communication capabilities

Navigation
The smartphone has a GPS navigator. Calls and messages
This model is equipped with only one radio module. The sound quality is good, as always, the mids and highs mainly predominate, the lows are a little overwhelmed. The volume is high.
The speakerphone produces above-average volume. It does not wheeze when the load increases. If Sky is put back side down, the volume becomes 10-15% lower. If you close it, the volume will drop by 90 percent.
FM radio. The receiver operates at frequencies 87.5 – 107.8 MHz. RDS is supported and broadcast is recorded. To listen to the radio, you must connect headphones. Very strange, considering that the device has an antenna. Most likely, the manufacturer simply put it “naked” Android firmware 4.0 and forgot about the possibility of operating the radio from an external antenna.

Whether he is needed or not is a secondary matter. Otherwise, Explay Sky is a typical budget MTK device with an autofocus camera and a capacious battery.
