Open two. What are "Dvach", "Forchan" and other imageboards? What is "fochan"

"Dvach" is a site for anonymous communication, which is visited by 100,000 users per day. The persecution of a teacher who starred in porn, the disclosure of the crimes of the "Khabarovsk knackers" and the exposure of a pedophile - all these cases got into the media and to law enforcement agencies precisely thanks to the users of "Dvacha".

« Paper” spoke with dozens of active participants in such actions and their victims in order to understand what drives the users of the site.

Last week, a trial began in Khabarovsk in one of the most high-profile cases of the past year. Two local underage girls were in the dock (initially it was claimed that they were over 18 years old). They are accused of insulting the feelings of believers, robbery, and under several other articles of the Criminal Code. But they became known as "Khabarovsk knackers".

In the fall of 2016, a wave of spontaneous rallies of animal rights activists swept across Russia. They went out with their pets to protests and stood with slogans like "They also hurt." The reason for this was the scandal with two girls from Khabarovsk. They regularly responded to advertisements looking for new owners for cats and dogs and took animals from shelters. After that, they mocked them: they gouged out their eyes, cut off their paws and crucified them. The murder weapons were hammers, knives and even an air pistol. In personal correspondence, they exchanged photos of the murders and joked about the next crime. In total, according to investigators, the victims were 15 birds, cats and dogs. It is also known that the girls tortured a homeless man.

As a result, the girls were arrested. Together with them, a young man went on trial, who allegedly helped to record a video of bullying a man. Now the knackers have pleaded guilty and the prosecutor's office is demanding real terms for them. And the investigation began with a post on Dvacha, the Russian analogue of the famous 4chan imageboard (a site where users can communicate and exchange pictures anonymously and without registration).

Correspondence of girls and photographs of bullying first appeared on Dvacha. Its users figured out where the murders took place, began harassing the girls online (massively writing threatening messages to them) and began to organize information about crimes on the Internet. So the media and law enforcement agencies learned about the situation, which ultimately led to a scandal and a trial.

How "Dvach" works

Now the site is a system of several dozen forums, such "raids" make up a very small proportion of it. Users discuss memes and news, share rare porn and discuss where to buy weapons, argue about politics and football, comics and music, religion and programming.

However, Dvach is primarily known as a place for anonymous communication with tough trolling and cynical jokes.

At the same time, representatives of the site assure that this is not the essence of his work.

Dvach is not only hollering and senseless throwing shit at everyone and everything. Dvach is not only a place where they look for "cute" pictures to like and tell their friends. Everything is much deeper and thinner. Here you can talk about all your problems, no matter how strange or scary they may seem. Tell dreams, fantasies, no matter how twisted they are. Discuss any exciting event that happened in your home or in the whole world, - explained the 33-year-old administrator and alleged owner of Dvach, Nariman Abu Namazov.

Indeed, they communicate here in general in a friendly way, but because of the anonymity, users do not disdain insults and obscenities. The imageboard also has its own slang using professional vocabulary, abbreviations, deliberate distortion of words and borrowings from other languages. There are both forms common on the “external” Internet (for example, “sap”, “chan”, “owl”), and internal ones for the forum (“sofa”, “brute force”, “target”).

The site is visited by 100 thousand users per day, who write under 200,000 posts. The number of unique visitors per month exceeds one million, which allows the site to earn on advertising. According to the creators, "Dvach" is the most popular imageboard in Russia and Europe and ranks third in the world.

However, Dvach is primarily known for large-scale promotions of its users outside the site. So, “dvachery” solved crimes and found out pornographic actresses among users of VKontakte, mocked patriots in Odnoklassniki and sought to block Nikita Dzhigurda’s Instagram, spy on people through webcams and sabotaged many online beauty contests, winding up the votes of applicants, not meeting the standards of model appearance.

At the same time, since the beginning of 2016 alone, Dvacha users have created about 500 topics on the site with calls for “raids”. "Dvachery" poisoned the rapper Basta and the famous porn actor Pierre Woodman. There were also “raids” on feminists and nationalists, “vile fat women” and Caucasians, girls cheating on their boyfriends, and schoolgirls who killed a homeless man.

Dvach is a place where such demarches spontaneously arise, or, as they say, raids on different people, on different events. On the normal Internet, so to speak. Starting with raids on the VKontakte wall of a classmate and calls to troll someone's mother, ending with events with rather serious consequences. Basically, of course, these raids come with a minus sign, they carry negative energy, but sometimes, as with a beauty contest, they are also creative. Not to allow another glamorous TP to win the competition, but a happy cute and kind plump, - Abu explained, emphasizing that a small percentage of users participate in the raids.

From a detailed interview with " paper" Abu refused, explaining that the material could become an excuse for him to be "harassed by people who are not enthusiastic" about him. Namazov has previously stated that he receives threats due to the activities of Dvacha.

At the same time, he emphasizes that he tries not to interfere in the “raids” of users and does this only at the request of law enforcement officers. However, no high-profile trials and sentences for participants in such actions are known. The file of court decisions about Dvacha only mentions demands to block certain topics on the forum because of “information prohibited for distribution on the territory of the Russian Federation.”

Who participates in Internet forays

Vladimir was born and raised in a small town in Western Siberia. The population is 40 thousand people, the average salary is less than 20 thousand rubles, unemployment and the almost complete lack of prospects for most residents. Vladimir was bored with peers, and he preferred to spend his free time on the Internet.

In my hometown, there were often only cattle. I spent my free time better and more usefully at the computer than behind the garages, - he recalls in a conversation with “ paper". He valued the Internet precisely for the opportunity to find everything you want, you just have to search.

In 2007, 12-year-old Vova once again scoured the Internet in search of "interesting topics for thought" and came across the Lurkmore online encyclopedia. Six months later, through a cross-reference in one of the articles, he first got to "Dvach". The boy liked to read the opinions of anonymous users, and Vladimir began to spend several hours daily on the site.

Ten years have passed since then. Vladimir moved to Novosibirsk and from a teenager running away from the reality of a provincial town, he turned into a typical young resident of any of the Russian millionaires. He dresses in H&M and listens to underground music, makes money from programming and design, and also develops his small business and unsuccessfully tries to launch startups. However, he still visits Dvach and actively participates in the life of the site. “It has become part of everyday life,” he explains.

Vladimir left his first comment on Dvacha only in 2010, three years after appearing on the site. He was forced to enter into a discussion by discussing the case of "wheel throwers" - two teenagers from St. Petersburg, who on the evening of November 8, 2010 from the fifth floor of a car tire and accidentally killed a passerby with it. Users of "Dvacha" were outraged by the "stupidity" of teenagers and staged "raids" on their pages on the My World social network. Vladimir then felt sorry for the "throwers", and at the forum he stood up for them, but his message was ignored.

It seemed to me then that they were just stupid, and everyone should have a chance to make a mistake. But it's not. He was stupid himself, he explained. paper».

Two weeks later, teenagers from St. Petersburg were detained by the police, and the discussion of the strange murder reached Channel One. In the release of the show “Let them talk”, dedicated to teenagers who did not even think of repenting, users of “Dvacha” appeared. Not wanting to reveal their identities, just like on the image board, they sat with paper bags on their heads.

27-year-old Sergey Konovalov was present on the same program as a friend of the suspect. During the show, Konovalov and Dvacha users had a serious argument about whether the teenagers were guilty. Anonymous did not like the oppositional opinion and after the broadcast, the “dvachery” hacked Konovalov’s email. The child pornography he had filmed was found there. Users transferred this data to the UK, and the man was detained. The next day, Konovalov died in the bullpen. It is assumed that he committed suicide. "Dvachery" still remember this case as one of the most epic cases. I agree with this opinion and the site administrator Nariman Namazov, who mentioned this story in an interview.

Frame from the release of the program "Let them talk"

Vladimir did not participate either in the opening of Konovalov's mail, or in the first raids on the "wheel throwers" themselves. His position changed in the spring of 2011, when, as a result of the investigation, one of the St. Petersburg teenagers received 1.5 years of house arrest, and the second went unpunished. Users of "Dvacha" were not satisfied with such a sentence, and they continued to persecute teenagers.

Then Vladimir came across data from the teenagers' e-mails, hacked by the "dvachers": in personal correspondence, young St. Petersburg residents joked about the murder and did not think to regret what had happened. Then Vladimir decided that both teenagers deserved much more punishment, and entered his first "raid".

We wrote various insults to the parents, teachers and friends of these teenagers. They were said to have raised killers. They were on fire, and we continued because we could, - Vladimir recalls with nostalgia in a conversation with " paper". Since then, the young man has participated in more than 50 such actions.

Until now, at least every week, another topic has been created on Dvacha calling for harassment of someone, but, according to Vladimir, it is rather difficult to organize a mass action.

For this is not your personal army. Maybe people will not be in the mood, or maybe a sense of justice will play out and because of your stuffing they will hunt you down yourself. Maybe, on the contrary, they will react and hunt down the one you want. Complete chaos, he explained. paper". These data were also confirmed by the administrator of Dvacha.

Why "twice" bully

Vladimir emphasizes that users most often support calls for raids not for the sake of fighting for justice or other lofty motives, but in order to cheer themselves up.

All this just for the lulz (fun - approx. "Paper"). And lulz can bring both the reaction of the victim itself and the process of bullying. We kind of manipulate, decide fate. Consider playing with a person as you like, ”he explains, adding that, ideally, every bullying should end in the suicide of the victim.

« Paper"I talked with a dozen more active users of Dvacha, who have been on the resource for at least five years. All of them confirmed that it was the “lulz” received during bullying that fully justified their actions.

At the same time, the interviewed anonymous people have nothing in common with Dvacha. 17-year-old Vladislav from Moscow, for example, learned about the "raids" only a year and a half ago, and before that he followed other thematic sections of the site. Now the student is actively participating in such actions.

Sergey, 34, who works as “a typical middle manager with an income of more than 100 thousand,” said “ paper”that, on the contrary, he often “got away” with bullying before, but now he is bored with it.

Bullying is such a test for stupidity. Victims are justified, bombed, broken, cut out. If the dude is ok, he'll just ignore it, and the anonymous people won't care," he explains.

Sergey sees another reason for the popularity of such actions in simple envy: “There are a lot of hikkans on Dvacha (people who, for various reasons, lead a very secluded lifestyle - approx. “ papers“) and schoolchildren who did not achieve anything. And the targets of raids are often successful and fucking people. Here the anons proceed from logic: I don’t have it, even if they don’t have it. Set up some kind of trick."

However, sometimes users join the “raid” not out of a desire to assert themselves, but out of sheer boredom. “Someone started, and you sit at home, do nothing, hoot. Well, you think: why not? ”, - explained“ paper» 24-year-old Pavel, graduating from the Pedagogical University.

20-year-old Karim from St. Petersburg has a completely different attitude to "raids". He studies at the university in the physical education department, dreams of becoming a football player and considers "Dvach" "a real outlet." He participates in harassment only when sex workers appear in them. “This is a matter of honor. Such girls need to be kicked out of society,” he explains.

The heterogeneity of the audience and its motives is confirmed by the surveyed users themselves. Most of them attribute this to the anonymity of the site. “Anon cannot be endowed with a personality at all, for we are a legion,” explained “ paper» 34-year-old manager Sergey.

The head of the imageboard, Nariman Namazov, also refused to characterize the audience of the site in any way, saying that everyone who “really appreciates anonymity and impersonal communication, thin (and thick) humor, as well as versatility” sits on Dvach.

How do they become victims of "dvacherov"

In March 2016, the St. Petersburg programmer Andrey Mima

Various imageboards are a very popular topic on the Internet. But modern Internet users (read - schoolchildren) sometimes do not know what it is, since they simply did not catch the times of popularity of such sites. Let's look at this topic in more detail. At one time, the two most popular imageboards were "Dvach" and "Forchan". When analyzing the concept of "imageboard" we will analyze these sites. After all, it was they who at one time gave rise to a huge number of memes. Okay, let's start looking at this in more detail.

What is "Dvach" and "Fochan"?

These two sites, as we have already figured out, belong to one very large category of Internet resources, which is called imageboards. This is one of the varieties of the forum, which has advanced options for attaching pictures. In fact, this term is literally translated as "picture board", which makes it easier to understand this phenomenon, which is now almost gone into oblivion. Usually imageboards are built according to the same scheme, full of a large number of sections.

These sections contain so-called threads in which people discuss certain topics. The replicas themselves (sometimes with pictures) are posts. A similar system of forums still exists today. The advantage of the imageboard compared to other forums was that all users there are anonymous.

Some see this as a flaw that creates havoc in such systems. However, despite the absence of the need to register, on such sites it is often possible to identify, determine that the posts were written by the same person. Let's take a look at the two most famous imageboards at the moment: "Dvach" and "Forchan".

What is "Dvach"

"Dvach" is our domestic imageboard, which is an analogue of a Japanese site with a similar name. Sites of this kind exist in almost all countries where it is possible to use the Internet. This site has more than forty sections. Only two of them are debatable. Most are general sections and those dedicated to anime.

In addition, this site has an online graphic editor. On this resource, each section was with a clearly defined theme, which brought at least a little consistency to this chaotic forum. These sections are called boards. It should also be noted that all sections listed on this site had a limit on the number of threads. This is one of the few existing restrictions on this resource. Now you know what "Dvach" is. And now let's move on to the English counterpart, which produces a huge variety of Internet memes.

What is "fochan"

We figured out domestic imageboards. Now you do not need to ask the question "What is "Dvach", you already know the answer to it. And now we will answer a similar question, only with regards to the English-language resource. Almost all memes (those things that have become incredibly popular on the Internet) appeared precisely thanks to "Focianu" In 2007, for a short time, this site turned into the most ordinary forum with registration, which caused a storm of indignation.

It turned out that the reason for this was a hacker attack. In 2009, a post was posted on this site that someone decided to definitely arrange a shootout at the school. Naturally, it was occupied by the police. It turned out, in vain, because this information was posted just to laugh.

conclusions

We figured out what "Dvach" is and imageboards in general. Now you have become a little more erudite in this matter. After all, now you don’t need to think, for example, what “Dvach” means. This answer is so clear.

2ch.hk - Forum for everyone and everyone, everything is here.

From sections with games and anime, to sections about weapons and history. Sections where a discussion of some cartoon character can turn into a real political discussion.

The biggest and clearest rule for all forums of this type is anonymity.

You can not reveal your personality, the whole essence is built only on this. Without registration and SMS; D

Everyone will be able to find a suitable section for themselves, and if not, then you can always go to the most visited branch - Brad /b/ You will definitely find something to read there.

Each of the forums except Brad, has its own theme. There are discussions adhering to the direction precisely on their topic.

There is a column on the main page news, you can click on each of them and read more, or participate in the discussion.

There are only 15 points in the rules

Yes, and the bans themselves are standard, which all sites have, do not break the law, do not throw off malware, in general, blah blah blah ... They can still be banned only by IP, and at the same time the ability to read Dvach is not lost , only you can’t post - and many don’t need it anyway.

The form of posting and creating threads and for answers in them is the same:

In addition to the text, you can attach a video, picture, drawing.

There are also mobile clients Dvacha, for any platform, you can read more about this in - /mobi/ Mobile devices and applications .

Compare the view from the mobile application Dashchan and version for PC, using the Books section as an example - /bo/

In conclusion, we can say that Dvach is a platform for communication, information exchange, without being tied to a person. Here you can not be afraid to seem stupid, or ask some intriguing question. But you should understand that anyone can sit on the other side of the monitor. So it's better not to listen to advice from two

Imageboards are a very broad category of Internet resources, which include the Dvach and Fochan portals. The name comes from the English word imageboard, which translates as "image board". This is a type of web forum where photos and other graphics can be attached to posts.

Imageboards originated in Japan, and English language forums have adopted Japanese style and culture. The technology is based on the Textboard concept, which differs only in that you cannot attach graphic files to it.

The atmosphere on the imageboards is relaxed and informal, thanks to the anonymous posting. Sometimes this feature leads to the appearance of aggressive and negative comments. Users can leave comments and messages without registering and creating accounts. Moreover, some sections imply exclusively anonymous comments and messages. If desired, the user can follow or use the same photo to stand out among the anonymous. But this is optional and often frowned upon by other users.

Usually a file is attached to each message, sometimes several files. More often only images are allowed, less often you can attach music. All saved files are stored on the imageboard server.

Archiving is not enabled by default. Each section can contain no more than a certain number of threads. When a new thread (discussion) is created, the oldest one is deleted. If archiving is still necessary, it is carried out by third-party services, in which case old threads are transferred to a separate directory.

Imageboards differ from other forums in several ways:

  • No archiving by default;
  • Anonymity;
  • Ability to attach files.

What is "Dvach"

The most famous, popular and demonstrative imageboards are "Dvach" and "Fochan". Both sites have a large number of sections and are built on a similar principle. Discussions are posted in threads, united by topic. Users discussing the topic are anonymous.

"Dvach" is a domestic imageboard, the idea of which was borrowed from a Japanese site with a similar name. The functionality and visual design are also similar. There are similar sites in almost all countries of the world where the Internet is actively used.

There are 40 sections on Dvacha. Among them:

  • Cars
  • Anime
  • Design
  • Work
  • Series
  • Space.

And much more. Only two of the sections are debatable, few topics are devoted to politics and public issues. Most of the sections are general and dedicated to entertainment, such as anime.

Feature of the site - graphic editor online. It was used by post authors to create their own images.

On this resource, each section has a specific topic, which allows you to structure a large amount of information and discussion. These sections are called boards. Each board can only have a limited number of threads (discussions). This is due to memory savings and lack of archiving. The oldest, unpopular threads were removed in favor of new ones. Otherwise, there are no restrictions on the site, and anonymity allows you to write witty messages with complete frankness.

What is "Forchan"

If "Dvach" is one of the most famous Russian-language boards, then "Forchan" was very popular in foreign countries. It was this site that spawned a huge number of popular memes, which then spread all over the Internet.

This English-language resource appeared a long time ago and gathered a large number of users. The basic principles of its work are the same as other imageboards: anonymity, no archiving, the ability to attach an image.

Fourchan was opened on October 1, 2003 by Christopher Poole. Japanese imageboards were also taken as a basis. First of all, sections were created for posting images, discussing manga and anime. The site quickly gained popularity, new discussions appeared on various topics:

  • video games
  • Music
  • Literature
  • Politics
  • Fitness
  • Sport.

In 2007, for a short time, the imageboard turned into a regular forum where you need to register in order to leave messages. This did not please the users of the resource, who openly expressed their indignation. It turned out that everything happened because of a hacker attack, the consequences of which were eliminated.

Another unpleasant incident occurred in 2009, when a user decided to joke and posted information on the site that a shootout would be arranged in one of the American schools. The police occupied this school, but the alarm turned out to be false.

Communication style on imageboards

There is a special atmosphere on imageboards, which is largely determined by the anonymity of users. This gives freedom, and in some cases - impunity. There is moderation on such forums, but users are punished only for the most egregious violations that violate the law of the country. This is propaganda of violence, Nazism, insults. At the same time, even dangerous messages often go unnoticed by moderators.

Here they do not follow the topic of discussion, so it is sometimes difficult to find useful information: it is lost behind hundreds of flood messages. Anonymity allows you to reveal dangerous, usually hidden topics.

There is also a special phenomenon of the general stream of consciousness. When many messages come not from specific people, but from anonymous users, they are perceived as a general line of information. At the same time, the desire of a particular user to identify himself is condemned and seems to be a betrayal of general principles.

Imageboard sections

Imageboards are divided into sections by topic. In theory, this makes it easier to select a thread of interest and not interfere with users discussing other topics. In practice, threads often intersect and, for example, kittens are discussed in the topic of cinema.

Therefore, the most popular topics are the Brad, Chatter forums, etc., which are designed to communicate on any topic. There are special rules of communication ethics. In these sections, you can even find pornography or other dubious content. On the other hand, memes that are popular in the future and viral content that circulates all over the Internet often appear here.

Some imageboards have boards for international communication, which is most often conducted in English. Here, memes can gain worldwide popularity, and national cultures are intertwined with each other and with Internet culture. On any board, you can create a topic “for your own” and conduct a conversation in your native language.

In international discussions, jokes with flags and national attributes are especially popular. For example, on a German website, the image of the Polish flag upside down is popular, England is depicted as a British gentleman - in a top hat and a monocle.

Communication on imageboards attracts with informality and breadth of topics. However, now the popularity of such resources has fallen dramatically, and many young Internet users have not even heard of Dvach, Forchan and other similar sites.
