New educational project for seniors - "Silver University" starts in Moscow on November 1.
Its participants will be Muscovites of retirement age: men over 60 years old, women over the age of 55 years. In "Silver University" they will be able not only to have an interesting time, but also to acquire knowledge and skills that improve their quality of life, according to the official portal of the Mayor of Moscow.
For example, master a computer and mobile applications, learn foreign languages, comprehend the basics of financial and legal literacy. At the "Silver University" it will be possible to get a profession a nanny, a dollmaker, or an urban landscaper.
Acceptance of applications for free education began in October in the territorial centers of social services for the population (TTSSO).

Our goal is to extend their creative and professional longevity by organizing cultural and educational leisure. "Silver University" will give an opportunity to pensioners to study what was not possible to master earlier due to lack of time... Classes will be held both directly at the centers of social services at the place of residence, and at the sites of the Moscow City Pedagogical University. They are located in eight metropolitan districts - West, South-West, Central, East, North-East, North, North-West and Zelenogradsky. Each group will have 15-20 people. It is expected that by the end of the year 2,600 retirees will study at the university.
Older students will be able to enroll in one of five faculties: humanitarian, mass communications and informatics, culture and creativity, health and safety or psychological support of the individual. At the Faculty of Humanities, elderly people will learn the basics of spoken English and German, the history and culture of Moscow, as well as get acquainted with the peculiarities of volunteer work. The same faculty will train such a profession as a green farm worker.
During classes at the Faculty of Mass Communications and Informatics pensioners will be explained how the modern information space works, teach them how to use gadgets and tell them about the basics of journalism. The Faculty of Culture and Creativity will host practical lessons for dancing and needlework. Here you can also learn the profession of a dollmaker.
Health students and safety will take courses "Fundamentals of financial and legal literacy", "Wellness swimming" and "Food instead of medicine". And at the Faculty of Psychology, older people will learn how to prevent and resolve conflicts, as well as overcome psychological barriers in communication. Here, retirees will be able to get the profession of a nanny.
The duration of general education programs will be from 24 to 36 hours... Up to 160 hours are allocated for training in working specialties. Lessons will be held at least twice a week for two academic hours. In addition to theoretical and practical classes, students will be able to attend trainings and master classes by specialists in specific fields. In addition, the university will host festivals, creative evenings and evenings of relaxation.
Any pensioner of the capital can become a participant in the project, for this it is necessary apply to the social service center at the place of residence.
After the formation of groups for training programs, an employee of the social service center notifies the project participant about his enrollment in the selected faculty. At the end of the training a certificate is issued on the passage of a general developmental or professional program.
At the end of the training, graduates will be issued certificates of completion of the educational course. These are not state diplomas, but these documents confirm the acquired knowledge and skills.
Due to the fact that the number of places in groups is limited, candidates for training are included in the list awaiting subsequent recruitment, the department added, noting that the implementation of the educational project for the elderly will continue in 2018.

Probably not a single graduate of this pedagogical institution in its entire history has seen off with such warmth. Tea with pies, karaoke, funny contests and gifts. Long before the commencement of the solemn event, the hall was already full. “We know that our“ silver ”students are very responsible, they always come an hour and a half before the start of the event, so we came up with leisure activities for them so that they would not be bored while waiting,” the organizers of the prom explained.

208 graduates of the Silver University, who studied the professions of a nanny, a greenhouse worker and a manufacturer of play dolls, received certificates of working specialties. These are the longest training programs, lasting six months. Earlier, students of general education courses, for example, on the study of the English language, history and culture of Moscow, computer literacy, graduated from their studies. There are 3020 Muscovites in total. Someone came to study just so as not to sit at home and find an exciting hobby, others - to replenish their knowledge. The years passed unnoticed, in worries, leaving no time for themselves. At first she raised a child, then she experienced grief, and again the troubles of late motherhood. And the daughter, who has not yet fully grown out of dolls herself, supports her mother's hobby. “Only in retirement we learned that a hobby can bring such pleasure,” Tatyana's classmates told me with burning eyes. - We have formed a club of interests here. According to the teachers, working with an audience of 60 plus is a pleasure. These students do not skip classes, and with their energy, exactingness and activity in mastering the sciences, they can sometimes give a head start to young students.
