Early 21st Century - A study by Peter Fenwick of the London Institute of Psychiatry and Sam Parin of Southampton Central Hospital has been published. As part of the experiment, scientists studied medical histories and personally interviewed 63 cardiac patients who experienced clinical death. It turned out that 56 of those who returned from the other world did not remember anything. They fainted and came to their senses in a hospital ward. But seven patients retained clear memories of their experiences. Four claimed that they were overwhelmed by a feeling of calmness and joy, the passage of time accelerated, the feeling of their bodies did not disappear, their mood improved, even became elevated. Note that these people were not at all devout. For example, three said they did not attend church at all. Consequently, this kind of message cannot be explained by religious fanaticism.
But the sensational thing in the study of scientists was completely different. Having carefully studied the medical documentation of the patients, the doctors delivered a verdict - the prevailing opinion that the brain stops working due to oxygen deficiency is erroneous. There will always be people who do not accept such stories as an argument for the existence of an afterlife. All these pictures of heaven and hell, according to skeptics, are produced by a fading brain. And the specific content depends on the information that religion, parents, and the media gave during their lifetime.
Utilitarian explanation
Consider the point of view of a person who does not believe in a posthumous existence. This is the Russian resuscitator Nikolai Gubin. As a practicing physician, Nikolai is firmly convinced that visions of a patient during clinical death are nothing more than the consequences of toxic psychosis. The images associated with the exit from the body, the view of the tunnel, are a kind of sleep, hallucination, which is caused by oxygen starvation of the visual part of the brain. Doctors state the fact of death on the basis of the cessation of the respiratory function and the work of the heart. They call this condition clinical death. It is believed that if the body is not reanimated within five minutes, then irreversible changes occur in the brain, and then medicine is powerless.
However, there is such a phenomenon in the Buddhist tradition. A highly spiritual monk can, by entering a state of deep meditation, stop breathing and the work of the heart. Such monks retired in caves and there, in the lotus position, entered a special state. Legends claim that they can return to life, but such cases are unknown to official science.

Leaving the body does not always carry the soul of a person into the space of Divine light and love. Some describe their experiences in a very negative way.
The chasm behind the white wall
Jennifer Perez was 15 years old when she had a chance to visit Hell. There was an endless wall of sterile white. The wall was very high, and there was a door in it. When the heart stops
Pastor Kenneth Hagin of Texas became a priest thanks to the experience of clinical death, which overtook him on April 21, 1933. Then he was less than 16 years old, and he suffered from congenital heart disease.
