The golden rules for goal setting. Goal Setting Is The Most Important Success Factor (12 Steps)

Welcome to the fourth day of the visualization method. Today you will take an important step towards setting goals. In the first three days of the course, you increased your happiness levels and strengthened yourself in the present tense. Now we will look towards the future, because the optimal human existence is in the present, but has a visualization of future visions, dreams that will pull you forward. On the fourth day of the course, I will introduce you to a way to set goals, create a vision of yourself and creative visualization.

Almost all of us, as humans, overestimate what we can achieve in one year, but we do not fully evaluate our strength in three years. Most of us, even if we are purposeful people, do not have a realistic plan for ourselves for one year, but we do not see any further future.

Today you will think about a moment three years in the future, about how your life will change by then.

You can divide life into 3 sections: experience, development and investment.

Experiences tend to create more happiness than objects. When you get the desired item, you become happy, but this is a fleeting sensation, and the experience remains in your memory for life.

  • What experience would you like to have in 3 years?
  • Who will you be romantically involved with?
  • Where would you go?
  • What kind of adventures do you want to experience?
  • What house do you want to start living in?

These are all examples of experience.

When you do the meditation, first, think about the experience you want to have in 3 years.

Secondly, think about how you want to develop, think about new abilities, languages, health, physical fitness, all this you will receive in the process of becoming the desired person.

And third, consider how you can contribute to the world. For example, some new projects, books, blog, computer programs, can develop your career. These are all forms of investment.

Using this framework, you will immerse yourself in free meditation, think about what your life will be like in 3 years in the future, but remember, our mind underestimates our abilities in 3 years, so increase your expectations.

George Etalla said:"A good goal should scare you a little and excite you a lot."

Therefore, when you think about your wishes, think about what excites you - did you feel fear? - Okay! this means you expand your boundaries, and as a result, your capabilities.

Examples of successful renderings.

Australian psychologist Alan Richardson conducted a small experiment, he took a group of basketball players, divided them into 3 groups, and asked them to throw in the ring. The first group of basketball players practiced throws into the ring for 20 minutes a day, the second group performed only visualization of throws into the ring, without physically performing the throws themselves, and the third group did nothing. The results were amazing!

The group that only visualized the process of throwing the ball made significant improvements, they achieved almost the same results as the group that did the exercises physically.

Another rendering story from renowned actor Jim Carrey. In 1987, Jim was penniless, sleeping in the back seat of his car, dreaming of becoming a comedian, expecting a big break. He took a blank check and wrote on it: “ for Jim Caria $ 10 million", He carried this check in his wallet for many years, luck began to turn to face him, new roles appeared and then he starred in his first major film, Ace Ventura.

And for his follow-up film, Dumb and Dumber, in 1994, Jim received a check for $ 10 million. Here is his result of visualizing the future, an empty check with that inscription was in his wallet, every time he opened his wallet, he saw this check, and it was a reminder that this dream needs to be realized.

Numerous studies have shown that creative visualization is one of the most reliable ways to achieve goals; visualization sets the goal in motion.

I will take you 3 years into the future to visualize the most amazing images of your life.

"The best adventure you can go is to live the life of your dreams." Oprah Winfrey.

At this stage, meditation will be one of the longest. About 1 to 3 minutes. Think and dream about your future. It doesn't matter if you visualize it or just think. I want you to expand your thoughts. Imagine how amazing your life can be in three years.

Exercise works best when you are experiencing the emotion of imagining yourself strolling along a paradise shore, think about how you feel in this climate, the sensation of the wind blowing in your face. Take a look at the magical mountains, the sight of which evokes emotions in you.

Goal setting in life is an important moment for every person. If you want to be interesting, successful, you should not be lazy and set goals in life. And then, of course, to achieve them. But first of all, all the same goals, correctly set and correctly formulated. Let's figure it out.

Here's the first example of goal setting. It's been four years since Nastya and I decided that our usual life is boring and requires changes. Then the idea was born to go to another place, to another country. The goal has appeared, but without specifics. Where, to which country, for how long - these are just some of the questions that remain unanswered to this day, so we are still returning to Russia. But never mind, sooner or later we will still choose the country.

And now a more successful example from our own life. To move, we had to change our usual way of life: quit our job, find an opportunity to earn money online, learn to live within our means and receive at least an average income. If you read my annual report, you know:

As you can see, we are slowly and unhurriedly moving towards the goal - how to achieve this

The first step to goal setting is to make a list of your desires.

Of course, you need to start directly with your desires. It is necessary to decide what we actually want. At the same time, you need to understand that desires must be correctly formulated. The best way is to write down your goals on paper, which should look like this: I will get rid of 5 kilograms in 4 months, or I will buy a BMW X5 in a year, I will finish a picture this winter, or I will master throat singing before a trip to Siberia, etc. .P. In a word, you need to betray your character to your goals, and they should be written for everyone.

Written on paper takes on material forms faster- when you see your goal on paper, re-read it, you speed up the process of its implementation. It is imperative that you have a desire to fulfill your goal, so write down those goals that you really want to achieve. Believing that you will achieve your goal is also important, so believe in yourself, believe in your goal, and the fulfillment of your goal will go off with a bang. There is no need to wish for money, they are only means for fulfilling desires, money is a tool for achieving our goals, nothing more.

Be sure to make sure that your desires are not imposed by someone else from the outside, for these purposes there are many useful exercises. It is important to understand that it is much more difficult to achieve someone else's goal, because the subconscious mind is not so easy to deceive. I recommend mastering:

The second step is to specify the goal.

It is necessary to understand and determine for ourselves what result we want to get by reaching our goal... More specifics, less verbiage and comparisons - the form should be clear and understandable. In no case should you describe your goals and desires in this way:

  • I will look better
  • get rid of excess weight
  • I want to buy a car

You need to set specific deadlines, clearly imagine yourself as you want to become. You need to be aware of how you want to change morally and materially:

  • I will earn 150 tr in half a year. per month
  • I will change jobs in a month
  • I will weigh 47 kg in four months, while I will have a relief belly and a toned body
  • buy a BMW car in 5 months

However, let me remind you once again that to desire money, in any way, is not a rewarding occupation, you will fray your nerves, but you will not become richer

The set deadline will stimulate and spur you in every possible way to accomplish what you want. In addition, it will force your subconscious to work, which, striving to come to a state of balance, will try to find the fastest and most comfortable way to get what you want. The deadline should be reasonably determined, and not taken from the ceiling, and therefore you will have to forget about laziness and work productively. And, of course, strive for this, find a job where you will be appreciated, and it will be paid in accordance with your requests to begin with.

The third step is to re-read your goals.

Keep your goals in mind, re-read, look through, think about what can help in their implementation, try to pay more attention to external signs. As a rule, the subconscious mind itself is engaged in this routine work, but sometimes it should be helped. Thus, you can get the desired result much faster.

Decide for yourself what is needed to achieve your goals: new knowledge, people who will help you achieve your goals, perhaps a change of scenery or good rest. When rereading the set goals, pay attention to the momentary desires that arise in you, because even big goals are taken in small steps.

It is imperative that you study a lot, because if you still have not achieved something, then you simply did not have either the desire, or the time, or the knowledge, or maybe you just didn’t have enough support. We have already spoken about desires, and the following articles can help on the last three points:

Step 4 - go towards your goal no matter what

If you think about your goals, imagine how you possess certain things, or have already realized your desires, then this will definitely happen. As you live on an island, in your wonderful big and beautiful house, you fly on your plane. Self-hypnosis and self-belief will help in achieving the goal. The main thing believe in yourself and don't give up halfway... As frequent practice shows, most often people stop five minutes from victory: they didn’t run, didn’t hit it, didn’t dig it, didn’t believe it - all the more sad it is to watch your laurels go to someone else.

Go to the goal as long as it is important to you. There are rare cases when priorities change, and with them goals and desires, but most likely this happens due to initially incorrect goals and desires imposed by other people.

Start living your life, your mind and your aspirations. Determine what is important to you, stop listening to someone else's opinion and give in to someone else's persuasion. You don’t owe anyone anything, only voluntary help and no more, be sure to read the following articles to get rid of the inhibiting factors:

Take the first important step, set a goal and move towards achieving it.

So, everyone knows that a successful person is a purposeful person who sets and achieves certain goals and objectives. He is always in the process of achieving the goal, and therefore in the process of self-development. A successful person cannot live aimlessly - aimless existence is not at all what nature created man for. Man is obliged to live with a purpose, this is his difference from the instinctive thinking of animals. Therefore, goal setting is very important. The goal should be formed very clearly, the more clearly and concretely it is formed, the better. In general, specificity and clarity are very correct, necessary qualities of a successful person.

The goal should not be blurry. It should be very specific, for example: “I want to earn 100 thousand dollars a year”, or “I want to improve family relationships with my household members within 3 months”. Therefore, set realistic deadlines for achieving your goal.

To successfully achieve a goal, it is important first of all to believe in its implementation, to be sure that you will achieve it, to see the results of achieving your goal. Without this, the target will just hang in the air, and the process will not be launched.

Now let's talk about the so-called 12 Stages of Goal Achievement, which Brian Tracy mentioned in his book The Psychology of Achievement. So, each healthy goal necessarily goes through 12 stages, steps:

1st step. Wish. It is very important to really desire to fulfill your goal. Without this, the process of achieving the goal will not get off the ground. Therefore, form the goals that you really want to achieve.

2nd step. Faith. Belief in the goal is evidence, without which the goal cannot exist. Believe in your goal, believe that you will achieve it, and then the process of achieving your goal will start at a cosmic speed.

3rd step. Writing down goals. Like a timeline, goals need to be written down on paper. When you write, the goal is firmly settled in your subconscious and you will always be aware of what goal you are achieving. In addition, a goal written down on paper already takes on material forms - when you see your goal on paper, read it, you speed up the process of its implementation.

4th step. Decide how achieving your goal will benefit you? You cannot set yourself goals that are not of any benefit to you. Such goals are groundless, have no serious basis for existence. Consider this when setting your goal. Also, imagine the benefits of achieving your goal?

5th step. Analysis of the current situation. When setting a new goal, ask yourself: what have I achieved so far? Make a plan of your achievements, write it down, attach with any material objects. For example, if you graduated from university, you can attach a copied diploma to serve as a powerful reminder of what you have already achieved. Without a serious analysis of the current situation, it is impossible to move forward with confidence.

6th step. Setting a deadline. I think that it is understandable that the goal cannot live on its own in a time thread. Determine the boundary, the deadline for the implementation of the goal, set, as I said, the real deadlines. Obviously, you won't make a million dollars in 1 hour, or improve your relationships with your work colleagues in 1 day. Therefore, I repeat once again, set realistic deadlines.

7th step. Identification of obstacles. Any goal is not complete without a natural process of overcoming obstacles. But it's better when you know about them in advance. As the saying goes, "forewarned is forearmed." Therefore, identify the obstacles and write them down on paper. This will help you better understand what you will have to face on the way to achieving your goal. You will be prepared, which means ready to go forward, overcoming obstacles.

8th step. Determine what knowledge will be required to achieve the goal. As with the goals and obstacles themselves, write them down on paper. Make a list of the knowledge that will be useful to you. Perhaps you will lack knowledge, but you will know exactly which ones and can improve them to achieve your goal.

9th step. Define a list of people and organizations whose help will help you achieve your goal. Sit down and seriously think about it, be sure to write down the list. During the achievement process, it is likely that you will need the help of unplanned people and organizations - with the help of the list on paper, you can easily make changes and clearly identify who will help you in achieving the goal.

10th step. Gather all the details of the previous nine steps and make a detailed plan. Of course, write it down on paper. Consider it seriously. Take this step very seriously and responsibly. It may take some time for this, but a competent and detailed plan is already an almost 100% guarantee of a successful result.

11th step. Creation of a picture of the achieved goal. Visualize the achievement of a goal, play in your mind a picture of an already achieved goal. Try it, it's very interesting. I am sure you will enjoy watching these "films" over and over again. Create such a picture, clear, clear - and then everything will work out.

12th, last step. Reinforcement with determination of your plan to achieve the goal. It is safe to say that this step is the most important and most responsible. Many people overcome the first 11 steps, but cannot complete this - the main step. Do not be among them, do not be afraid of achieving the goal, do not think about the difficulties that you have to overcome, because if you have completed all the previous 11 points, which means you have made a detailed plan, then you are already prepared and can overcome all difficulties. If you are ready, tell yourself that you have begun to fulfill the goal, that you are determined to complete the task. This will be the final step towards achieving your goal.

At this point, I would like to end the conversation about goals and their setting. I hope my tips and tricks will help you.

The goals are different, now the New Year's goals are relevant, for someone it may be to visit a pet store in Kiev and choose an animal for a child as a gift. Or you can try to set a goal to learn everything about beauty contraception, this will be especially useful for girls.

Greetings to our regular readers, new guests, all visitors to the av-finance blog!

The article that I am offering you today will be, on the one hand, a deviation from the main topics of our resource, and on the other, directly related to all our endeavors, including those related to trading, making money, and finance in general. And not only. And the comments to my previous article about the Franklin Pyramid, where we shared our desires and plans for the future, prompted me to write this note. Each of us has goals, our own, different, and each, one way or another, strive to achieve them. But the first step on this path, in any case, is setting a goal. We'll talk today about correct goal setting.

What does this mean? Why is this necessary and so important, and what will the correct setting of goals give in the end? It would seem that all possible difficulties await us in the period of achieving the goal, but not at the stage of setting it. But in reality this is the case: a goal formulated correctly is already the first step towards achieving what was conceived, and an incorrectly formulated one, on the contrary, will move away from what we strive for. Therefore, learning to set goals correctly is one of the key actions on the path to success.

First of all, let's define what the goal is. We often do not distinguish between goals and simple desires, “wants”. “I want to make a lot of money”, “I want to travel”, “I want a model figure” - these are all desires, not goals. But one thing can be different. How exactly? Desires, in contrast to goals, are vague and vague. "Earning a lot" - how much? Million? What - dollars, rubles? In year? Per month? In a day? Etc.

Hence the first rule: the goal must be specific.

The correct setting of goals will help the maximum detail and specifics in their formulation, so that both the subconscious and the Universe “work” in the right direction to implement the idea. That is, if we set the goal “to go on a cruise on a motor ship”, then this is too abstract formulation, because you can go as technical personnel - to wash cabins, for example. In addition, you need to understand exactly what your goal is, for example, “to learn a foreign language” is not a goal, not an attitude, but “to speak a foreign (specific!) Language” is already a very specific aspiration. You also need to present and describe (and write down) your goal in detail. For example, the goal is your home. In detail we represent and paint the number of rooms, floors, layout, what it will be - a new building, or maybe a house with a history, imagine ourselves in it on the veranda with a cup of coffee;). No matter what skeptics say, visualization is a strong thing, so a drawing or photo of a realized goal is a big plus for its correct formulation. For a number of goals in different spheres of life, there is even a method of creating a "wish board", where all aspirations are arranged in a certain order.

Further, the goal must necessarily be not only correctly formulated, but also fixed in writing, thereby we take the first step towards its implementation, materialization. Each of your goals needs to be written down - you can start a notebook, in extreme cases, a file in the computer, but do not use vouchers for writing, which will be lost among other papers and garbage, because if we set ourselves a serious, important goal, then it belongs to it need to be done accordingly.

The correct formulation of the goal should be in the affirmative.... All psychologists, time managers and just all successful people repeat this. And for good reason. Our subconscious and the world around us are arranged in such a way that they do not perceive denial, the “not” particle is simply skipped, thus the goal of “not losing in the competition” will only lead you to permanent losses. But the attitude "I will win the competition" will already bring you closer to success. By the way, pay attention again to the example of the wording, from it you can see the following rule of the correct wording.

The goal is best formulated in the present tense, as if it has already been achieved. "I earn 100,000 a day", "I am a director of a company", "I am a slim woman weighing 55 kilograms," etc. Avoid the words and combinations "I want", "I will", "I will have" - we do not make a wish golden fish, we formulate a goal to which we will move. It will also be nice if you set yourself approximate terms that are not accurate up to a second - “I am buying an apartment on September 14, 2015 at 13.30 Moscow time” - such accuracy will put pressure on you. But "I'm moving into a new apartment in the fall of 2015" - is closer to the truth. But this is not a universal rule, we are all different people, and there is such a personality type as irrational, and so any terms, boundaries and deadlines only interfere with them. Listen to yourself. How is it more convenient for you?

8 comments to “ Correct setting of goals that we strive to achieve

Hello Ekaterina! Good article! And at the same time a new section on the blog. Hopefully it will be replenished on an ongoing basis? 🙂
About the goals correctly told. I noticed such a tendency that many people cannot form their purpose in life. And if they start, they fall into a stupor or "cognitive dissonance." It is easier for them to live with the flow than to strive for something. And something needs to be strived for!
So, using my example, I will try to form some of my own goal, which I set not so long ago.
By the spring / summer of next year, I plan to become an average PHP programmer (a programming language for websites, so as not to overload with details). What should be able to:
    1. To know at an intermediate level HTML + CSS.
    2. Know PHP language constructions, operators, functionality, OOP implementation on PCP and other technical nuances.
    3. Be able and able to understand someone else's code, "attach" scripts to sites, "finish the layout or scripts."
    4. Take and cope with the tasks of customers from freelance exchanges. Let not complicated and inexpensive, but useful for experience.
That is, the goal is to become a “pogromist of PKhP”. Specifically, what I should be able and able to, I painted. It could be even more detailed and detailed, but "fellow traders" will not understand much.

And the last thing - go for it!

When there is a detailed plan, it is easier to act. As in the market. In fulfilling my goal, I have already begun to act. I repeat and study HTML + CSS and begin to delve into the PCP. I previously studied the PCP language, but gave up. Now I return to him. Besides, I hunt for this 🙂
Thank you for the article. I'm still waiting. I would like an article about motivation and "how to defeat laziness." I honestly admit that it gets in the way at times.
P.S. At night, when everyone is asleep, and the moon is setting behind the clouds and there is no starry sky ... I open the source code of the blog pages and peep, "who is doing what there." 🙂

    • Hello Vasily! Thank you for your detailed, thorough comments and attention to different sections of our blog! You have formulated your goal, I wish you success in achieving it! I'm sure everything will be ok. An article about fighting laziness is very relevant! I will overcome my own and immediately write off the results))) But seriously, here you can make a whole series of materials - there are a great many techniques, and besides, not all of them are universal: different situations, different temperaments of people, etc. And more, I just recently learned that laziness and notorious procrastination are not the same thing, but the latter also has several types (more than one book has been written on this issue)! In general, to be a heading!
