Posture treatment in children. It is necessary to start treatment with an accurate diagnosis and solve the problem comprehensively, strictly individually for each case.

Scoliosis is a persistent lateral deviation of the spine or its segments from the normal erect position. The pronounced asymmetry of the body is accompanied not only by the curvature of the spine, but also by the shoulder blade or ribs protruding from one side (right or left).

Scoliosis most often progresses in adolescence, especially during the period when the teenager is rapidly stretching in growth. That is, in age from 10 to 17 years... It is during this period that it is important to pay special attention to the condition of the child's musculoskeletal system. The disproportionate development of bone and muscle structures leads to pronounced visual defects. But only an X-ray examination and the conclusion of an orthopedic traumatologist are objective for diagnosing scoliosis and determining its degree.

It is necessary to start treatment with an accurate diagnosis and solve the problem comprehensively, strictly individually for each case.

Having extensive experience in the correction and prevention of this disease, the specialists of the V.I. Dikul Centers will carry out all the necessary measures:

  • Consultation with a neurologist or orthopedic surgeon
The doctor conducts an examination and gives directions for the necessary research
  • Computer-optical diagnostics
Determines the state of the back muscles, registers in detail the deviation from the central axis of the spine in all planes
  • Physical therapy doctor consultation
The exercise therapy doctor will conduct functional testing of individual muscles and muscle groups
  • Physiotherapist consultation
The doctor will identify areas that need relaxation and stimulation

Based on the data obtained, an individual treatment program is formed, including:

1 Classes with an exercise therapy doctor according to an individual program of movement therapy. For an hour, under the supervision of a doctor, during the lesson, corrective exercises of an asymmetric nature, breathing exercises, exercises on a crossover simulator, without axial load on the spine, post-isometric muscle relaxation are performed.

2 Physiotherapy procedure of myostimulation. A point, deep effect on weakened muscle groups will tone them up, complementing classes in the rehabilitation room

3 Consultations of exercise therapy doctors and an orthopedist-traumatologist will allow you to follow the dynamics of the treatment process and promptly add, changing the treatment program

“A positive result is achieved in the joint desire of the parents, child and specialists to solve the problem of scoliosis - its prevention and correction. We are always glad to offer you our knowledge and experience to make your child's life healthy and full of joy. "

Why is it dangerous for the health of the child

It is important to understand that although impaired posture is not a disease, incorrect body position creates an extremely unfavorable background for the development of numerous pathological conditions and diseases.

Ventilation and oxygen saturation of the blood often deteriorate. This leads to decreased immunity, frequent colds, mental retardation, decreased endurance and exercise tolerance.

Due to the fact that the shock-absorbing function of the spinal column suffers, the internal organs and the brain experience increased stress when walking and running. This disrupts the blood supply to the brain and spinal cord, liver, pancreas, heart. This, in turn, leads to the appearance of a whole bunch of chronic diseases - cholecystitis, hepatitis, myocardial dystrophy, and so on. The muscle corset weakens, muscle tone and axial load on the joints are not distributed correctly. Because of this, osteochondrosis, arthrosis, flat feet, and osteoporosis develop at an accelerated pace.
There is no doubt that the prevention of postural disorders in children is very important for maintaining health throughout the rest of their lives.
What are the types of posture disorders

There are two types of curvature of the spine with incorrect posture in children:

  • in the frontal plane, the changes are noticeable if you look at the child from the side,
  • in the sagittal plane, changes are visible when viewed from behind, from the side of the back.

In the first case, there are three main types:

  • lordosis, when the forward deflection of the back increases - this is the cervical and lumbar spine
  • kyphosis, when the bending increases in the backward direction and the back becomes "round", curved back - such changes are characteristic of the thoracic spine
  • "Flat back", when, on the contrary, the curves of the spine are smoothed out rather than increased.

In the second case, only one type of defect is distinguished - the S-shaped back. It is sometimes confused with scoliosis.

Correction of posture in children

There are several simple ways to recognize pathology at the earliest period. For example, you might ask to bend forward from the main stance without bending your knees. In this case, the vertebrae (if you look at the back) should go strictly along one line, not deviating either to the right or to the left. The back should be symmetrical with the shoulder blades parallel to each other. Another option for checking is from a standing position, fix your shoulders and ask you to turn your head to the right and left alternately. The angle of rotation of the head in both directions should be the same.

In schoolchildren, treatment of these disorders is especially important, as studying often predisposes to improper sitting posture. As a result, the muscles “remember” the wrong tension and posture disorders “get fixed” at the subconscious level.

In children, physical exercises are primarily used to correct posture. Their purpose is to correctly distribute the tone of various muscle groups, to increase the strength and endurance of the muscles that support posture. Exercises for correcting posture in children are selected strictly individually, taking into account the type of disorders, the degree of muscle tension, and general physical fitness.

In addition to physical exercises, our doctors widely use special massage and manual therapy. It is necessary to properly organize the daily regimen with the allocation of a sufficient amount of time for active rest. But it must be remembered that often excessive physical activity only harms posture, especially if it is chosen incorrectly. Therefore, only a doctor gives specific recommendations, taking into account the level of physical development and the individual characteristics of the pathology. For example, swimming is a very good healing and healing effect, but in some cases it is preferable to crawl, in others it is necessary to choose only breaststroke.
