Home plant aloe useful properties. The healing properties of aloe and what can be prepared from aloe

Greetings to all, friends!

They say that a dog is a man's friend, and I would call it aloe! Despite the fact that there are almost no worries with this house plant, it will always come to your aid: it will save you from abscesses and runny nose. It should grow in your home without fail, no matter what size your room is.

Many people use recipes with aloe at home, traditional medicine has known them since ancient times. And today I will remind you of some of them: from aloe juice, from leaves, for external and internal use, aloe recipes with honey.

Aloe arborescens - how to grow at home

Aloe belongs to the succulent species, i.e. it stores water in its leaves, aloe leaves are 94% water. This evergreen perennial plant native to Africa, in nature can reach a size of 4 meters.

It has an upright branching stem, green or grey-green fleshy long leaves with small denticles on the edges, which can scratch, but are not as bad and prickly as rose thorns.

The surface of the leaves is slightly convex below, and flat on top.

There are more than three hundred varieties of aloe, but it is believed that aloe vera with small light spots on the leaves has the greatest healing properties.

In the desert, aloe blooms tubular pink and yellow flowers in spring.

I do not know, at home I have not yet observed such a phenomenon in anyone.

In the people, aloe is called agave and is grown as indoor plant not for the sake of beauty, but for the sake of utility.

Growing it is very simple, as it is a completely unpretentious plant. Propagated by lateral shoots, which can be planted in August - September, using ordinary soil from the garden. If the soil in your garden is decent, there shouldn't be any problems growing. If the soil is heavy clay, add humus and sand to it.

Aloe loves light, so it is better to place it on the south windows.

Frequent watering can ruin the plant, because, if you remember, there is already a lot of water in its leaves. Therefore, you need to water only when the soil is completely dry.

In general, it is difficult to kill this plant, even if for some reason it fades with you, it is quite possible that under favorable conditions it will be able to move away.

Useful properties of aloe

As early as 3 millennia ago, medicinal beneficial features aloe. Their leaves contain enzymes, vitamins and various valuable substances, thanks to which aloe is used in folk medicine, since drugs with it have:

  • anti-inflammatory action
  • antibacterial
  • choleretic
  • anti-burn
  • wound healing

  • moisturizing
  • laxative
  • improves appetite and digestion
  • enhancing the secretion of the digestive glands
  • boosting immunity and protective functions organism
  • strengthening the heart muscle
  • painkiller
  • anticancer.

The gel that is inside the aloe leaf is able to heal many skin problems:

  • on insect bites
  • skin damage from frostbite
  • pimples and boils
  • eczema
  • puffiness under the eyes
  • crow's feet around the eyes.

And also strengthens the gums and teeth, helps fight skin aging and wrinkles, eliminates dandruff by rubbing into the scalp.

Using aloe, you can strengthen the immune system, solve stomach problems, eliminate constipation, treat arthritis and joint pain, heartburn, ulcers, lower cholesterol, relieve inflammation from the eyes, improve skin condition and hair growth.

And this is not the whole list of uses of aloe vera.

How to properly prepare aloe for use and make aloe juice at home

My healing power aloe is gaining only by the age of three. A plant older than 10 years is already losing it. Therefore, we use only 3 - 5-year-old bush.

Moreover, the lower thick leaves about 15 cm long should be cut off from the plant. The upper young ones have not yet gained strength.

Before cutting, do not water the plant for two weeks.

If we need some juice and gel for topical external use, then in this case the cut leaf needs to be washed, dried, needles and a thin layer of skin are cut off.

To obtain a small amount of juice, the gel (the pulp obtained after cutting the skin) is placed in gauze and squeezed.

We will achieve the best treatment effect if we first place the cut leaves in a dark, cool place (refrigerator) for 7-8-10 days. Under these conditions, life processes in the leaves die out, and the plant cells, fighting for their lives, begin to gather all their strength, forming biogenic stimulants, which become stimulants for the diseased human organ.

How to make aloe juice at home in large numbers:

  1. rinse and dry the leaves prepared above in the manner described above, it is not necessary to cut off the skin from them;
  2. cut the leaves into pieces and scroll through a meat grinder;
  3. squeeze the juice from the resulting slurry through cheesecloth folded four times, which should be boiled for 3 minutes.

The juice is used immediately while it is fresh.

Recipes from aloe at home

I will tell you what can be made from aloe at home, how to apply juice and leaves.

Aloe juice: application, recipes

What is useful aloe juice

I would like to say once again about the benefits of aloe juice. After all, it is especially widely used at home by folk medicine.

Aloe juice has properties that counteract many bacteria: staphylococci, streptococci, diphtheria, dysentery; enhance metabolism in tissues; increase the body's resistance, promote rapid healing cells.

In the form of lotions, the juice is used externally to treat purulent wounds, burns, abscesses,.

Used as a rinse for sore throat and gum disease.

In small doses, aloe juice stimulates the appetite, it is useful for constipation and gastritis with low acidity, peptic ulcer stomach, with tuberculosis and general weakness, to increase the body's resistance against infectious diseases.

It is drunk in a teaspoon 3 times a day 30 minutes before meals.

It should be borne in mind that Fresh Juice aloe is not stored for a long time and generally loses its activity during storage. Therefore, for the preparation of mixtures for long-term storage and use, aloe tinctures on alcohol (vodka, wine) are used, I will write the recipes below.

Aloe for colds

For colds, it is good to gargle with aloe juice, mixed in equal parts with boiled warm water.

In addition, it is good to drink hot milk with one teaspoon of aloe juice.

With a runny nose, 5-8 drops of aloe juice are instilled into the nose. You can do this three times a day with an interval of 3 to 5 hours. Such treatment stops the development of acute rhinitis.

Aloe for eyes

For the prevention and restoration of vision eye drops from aloe juice with honey. The thorns and skin are cut off from the leaf, the gel is removed, the juice is squeezed out of it.

A teaspoon of juice is mixed with liquid honey of the same amount, mixed well and diluted with 2 tsp. boiled chilled water.

Store the mixture in the refrigerator, instill 1-2 drops into the eyes twice a day.

Aloe in gynecology

There has long been such a practice when tampons with aloe are used in gynecology to treat cervical erosion. For these purposes, tampons are moistened with fresh aloe juice.

But with acute inflammatory diseases Aloe should not be used.

Aloe for children

Such a drink increases appetite, improves blood composition, children gain weight.

But not everyone likes the taste of such a drug. Then you can cook a more pleasant and nutrient mixture: 100 g of aloe juice is combined with half a kilo walnuts, 300 g of honey and juice from 4 lemons. Take a teaspoon before meals.

Recipe: aloe honey lemon nuts is also good for adults - for immunity.

Aloe leaves: application

As well as juice, you can use aloe leaves when festering wounds and for the treatment of other skin problems. If, for example, there is a wound or an abscess on the skin, you need to cut the thorns from the aloe leaf, cut it lengthwise and put it on sore spot, secure with a plaster or bandage.

With bleeding and inflammation of the gums, stomatitis, loose teeth, it is useful to chew an aloe leaf.

Aloe and honey

We all know the beneficial properties of honey, there is no need to convince anyone, but in the combination of aloe with honey healing effect recipes are only getting stronger. Therefore, I would like to emphasize this point in particular. The recipes use both juice and whole aloe leaves.

I will give a few recipes that use agave with honey, but in principle, they are very similar.

My only prejudice is to recipes in which infusions and mixtures need to be heated in some way, because honey loses its healing properties at temperatures above 40 degrees, so I excluded them from my article.

Aloe with cough honey

This recipe is also good for coughing, reviews about it are only positive, and for pulmonary tuberculosis, and for pneumonia.

Mix 15 g of aloe juice (1 tsp), 100 g of honey, 100 g. butter or goose / pork internal fat and 50 g cocoa. Take a tablespoon with hot milk.

This is my favorite cough recipe, I already wrote about it, children also eat this composition with pleasure. The main thing is that a very effective mixture.

Aloe medicine for immunity

The favorite recipe for aloe with honey for immunity is quite simple. It uses aloe, honey, Cahors.

How to do it: you need to take 150 g of fresh aloe juice, 250 g of honey, preferably linden, but you can use any other, and 350 g of good red wine, most often this recipe is Cahors, however, in other tinctures this wine are used, here, for example, in . Aloe juice is first infused in wine for a couple of weeks in a dark place, then aloe tincture is mixed with honey and they drink this medicine for immunity and general health promotion in a tablespoon.

Aloe is a common indoor flower, characterized by high vitality and beneficial effects on the human body. Traditional healers used parts of this plant to treat many diseases more than 3 thousand years ago. The juice of the fleshy leaves continues to be used today. Let's find out why aloe is so valuable and what ailments it can cope with.

flower benefits

Aloe - genus perennials relating to succulents. In its natural environment, it grows in Africa, southwest Asia and the island of Madakascar. Thanks to its decorative qualities and unpretentiousness in care, it was loved in northern countries and began to be bred as an indoor flower. It soon became clear that he had another advantage - this healing action juice, which is found in abundance in the fleshy leaves of the plant.

In nature, aloe grows in hot climates, so it is sometimes confused with a cactus.

Compound

Aloe leaves contain:

  • beta-carotene (provitamin A);
  • B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin and pyridoxine);
  • vitamin C (ascorbic acid);
  • vitamin E (tocopherol);
  • glycosides (emodin, nataloin and aloin);
  • antioxidants.

Antioxidants are substances that prevent the harmful effects of free radicals by suppressing oxidation processes in the body.

Phytoncides were also found in the juice of this plant. So called substances that can kill microbes or suppress their reproduction.

Medicinal properties, effect on the body

Due to the rich composition of the leaves of aloe, the following medicinal properties can be distinguished:

  • wound healing;
  • regenerating;
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • antioxidant;
  • antiulcer;
  • anti-burn;
  • laxative stool;
  • antimicrobial (it is a natural antibiotic and antiseptic).

Aloe can be applied both topically (drip into the eyes, smear the skin, gums), and inside (through the mouth). Sometimes it is used in the form subcutaneous injection. The juice squeezed from its leaves accelerates the healing of wounds and disinfects them. The plant helps with diseases of the eyes and skin of an inflammatory nature. Due to the high content of glycosides, juice consumed orally improves heart function and restores the gastric mucosa, stops inflammatory processes in the gastrointestinal tract. Aloin has a mild laxative effect.

The vitamins and antioxidants that make up the pulp of the plant have a beneficial effect on the condition of hair, nails and skin. Aloe is credited with a rejuvenating effect on the body. And some experts believe that its juice can be taken to prevent cancer. Traditional healers recommend the use of aloe to alleviate the condition of people already suffering from cancer.

Are all types of aloe medicinal

There are more than 250 types of aloe, but only 15 of them are considered medicinal. To obtain medicinal raw materials are most often used:

  • aloe vera;
  • aloe tree;
  • aloe socotrinskoe;
  • scary aloe.

The use in medicine of such popular species as aloe spinous, variegated and spotted is not mentioned anywhere, since in medicinal purposes they are not used.

Any plant has healing properties, although in varying degrees. And if some types of flower are unsuitable for the production of medicinal raw materials on an industrial scale, this does not mean that they are completely devoid of benefits. It's just less. Therefore, the owners of spotted, variegated and spinous aloe should not despair: you can still harvest the juice and treat yourself and your loved ones with it. So, on the advice of a doctor, I used tiger aloe juice to treat rhinitis in a 5-month-old daughter. The remedy helped to clear the nose of accumulated mucus, because after instillation, you want to constantly sneeze. It is often impossible to use an aspirator to suck out snot: the mucous membrane suffers from this. And thanks to tiger aloe, which is not even considered a medicinal plant, the baby breathed freely.

  2. Put them in a glass container and cover with paper.
  3. Place in refrigerator.
  4. After 2 weeks, take out the leaves and remove the blackened parts.
  5. Squeeze out the juice and collect it in a glass jar.

When a plant falls into adverse conditions and its vital activity begins to fade, special substances are produced. They are called biogenic stimulants. They are able to bring dying cells back to life.

Biostimulated juice:

  • lubricate the scalp to treat alopecia and accelerate hair growth;
  • treat acne, inflamed or burned skin;
  • wipe the face to eliminate wrinkles.

Aloe leaf gel is applied in the same way as juice. But it is more concentrated, therefore, for the preparation of folk remedies, you need to take it 5 times less.

In fact, the gel obtained in this way is not a gel. Carefully read the instructions for use of the gel produced by pharmaceutical companies. It states that the drug is obtained by evaporating 90% of the water from the juice squeezed from the leaves of aloe vera. Only by evaporating the liquid can a concentrated product be obtained. Moreover, the gel itself, sold in pharmacies, is more like juice: it is liquid. The gel obtained at home is gelatinous and more reminiscent of what is called “gel” in everyday life. But there is no more benefit in it than in juice. It can be used orally, while the gel from the pharmacy due to the high concentration active substances can only be used externally.

After that, the largest, fleshy and juicy-looking leaves are selected. They need to be washed and dried. It is not recommended to squeeze the juice right away.
